Also, why is your car parked like that?
>>38210309
1993 740iL. Got it about 9 years ago to drive to college, but that didn't last long. It's really the main family car now since our other car's AC failed and it was sold. I'm a NEET and I don't go anywhere by myself, but I do drive the car to take mom grocery shopping every week and sometimes various other family errands/outings.
Just hit 174,000 miles this week.

2005 Ford Explorer (Pic related, but with a few more dents and decals)
Been in the family's driveway since she rolled of the dealership lot, and I've been driving her for much of high school and into college (Spare for when I got my Dad's old Jetta, which ended up getting totaled).
The old girl carries herself pretty well for a family veteran, especially considering the most I use her for is the long haul between home and university. Most importantly, AC works like a dream (More than I can say for the Jetta)
I like them but I'm too poor to drive anything exciting

The only thing you have to worry about is it being stolen. If you come off you're either going to have superficial damage or you'll be dead so who cares?
>>38213930
Respect for admitting it dude and good for you being responsible about not taking too much from your parents. Although I would suggest that you start getting your license ASAP and just pay your parents back later. I dunno about the laws there but the laws here are weird for new drivers. 50 hours behind the wheel before you can even take the actual driving test and if you take it and pass you can't drive with more than two people in the car, go faster than 100km/h or drive after certain times. You don't want to be all ready to drive a dope car and get hamstrung by this shit.
>>38213987
>The only thing you have to worry about is it being stolen. If you come off you're either going to have superficial damage or you'll be dead so who cares?
Ah, insurance is mandatory here, in case you smack into a Veyron or something, you may become a paraplegic but at least you won't be a paraplegic owing an unholy shitload of money in Veyron repairs.

>>38214121

>>38213736
Probably less than $1000 put into it in 9 years for repairs and maintenance. However, we've only put about 20,000 miles on it in that time, and my dad is a former professional mechanic, so we do everything ourselves.
It's had a few issues that put it out of commission until fixed. The valley pan sprung a leak which basically dumped all engine coolant, but fortunately I was a couple minutes from home and didn't have to have it towed. Took the better part of a day to replace, but no big deal. It also developed leaks in both of the self leveling rear suspension shocks, which leaks out an expensive synthetic hydraulic fluid also shared by the power steering. They were a pain in the ass to take apart, but fixed by a couple o-rings. Recently sprung another coolant leak, which we first thought was a hole in the radiator, but it turned out to just be the drain valve on the radiator so that ended up being a quick fix for a few bucks.
Other than that it's just been minor issues like seat twist, fuel level sender, door latches/locks sticking, replacing transmission fluid, etc. It's getting to the point of needing a valve gasket kit and new spark plugs, but not a big deal there. Also needs new front shocks which seems like it will be a bit of a pain. It runs extra rich at times, but that's probably just a sensor. It also stalls once in a blue moon when coming to a stop, but starts right back up like nothing's wrong, and we have no idea what causes it. Not a huge problem as it only happens when coming to a complete stop, and sometimes it goes months without doing it.
Never had any electrical issues and everything is functional. Always drives like a dream and I tend to drive it hard.
>>38213987
Here you have to take like 20 hours of theoric classes plus about 40h of driving practice before taking the examination. After getting the license you get a provisory license for 1 year that you can't get any ticket.
>>38214298
Holy shit nigga get the license now. Pay your parents back later. You'll thank yourself for doing it.

Good to hear, I have another make of luxobarge from the same era, I recognize a lot of the stuff you've mentioned. The SLS has long been removed and converted to regular springs on mine though, sounds like BMW managed to get theirs to work better. Do yours have double windows? Read somewhere that the 740 and 50 had that.
'14 Fiesta ST. I love it, but I just got a new job and it's looking like I'm gonna have to sell it soon, because I need a car that can fit 4 people comfortably. (I'll be managing the small US branch of a foreign company and need to be able to drive the overseas management around when they come to visit.)

2002 Hyundai Sonata. Just hit 162k miles.
It hasn't been fun having no A/C this summer, but it is nice not having a car payment.
>>38216157
If we weren't able to fix the self leveling shock leaks with new o-rings, we would've converted to standard shocks. I think replacement self leveling shocks are like $800 a piece, which seems insane.
Pretty sure it does not have double thickness windows, if that's what you mean. As I recall they looks pretty typical.
Aside from the V8 engine it doesn't have a whole lot of extras over base US 7 Series models. Originally a South Carolina car so it has no traction control, stability control, heated seats, etc. I love the pure, unassisted rear wheel drive experience.

Inb4 the clickbait video of the Pacifica
>>38221472
I was driving my mom's minivan one day to community college. There was some faggot in a red GT86(most likely you) weaving in and out of traffic and being an obnoxious boiracer on the highway. By the time I got into town, of course there he was, at the stop light.
I pulled up to him and he motioned for me to roll my window down. I didn't, but he kept giving the handroll motion, as if he wanted to talk some shit about how he "owned me" or some shit.
Anyways, as I got further and further towards the campus I noticed he had the same parking placard as I did, for the same community college. By the time we were a few blocks away, I hatched a DEVILISH plan in my head. I waited until we were a block away from the college, and to where the students could see out onto the street. I told him to roll his window down, and he did. I talked some trash to the guy, and told him how pathetic he was. He got pretty flustered, and wanted to "blow my doors off", so to speak. I told him I'd race him the couple hundred feet to the college entrance, and he agreed.
Anyway long story short, I floored it on green and outran this little pussyboi in his underpowered, overpriced ricemobile. He didn't even look at me, let alone acknowledge me, when we pulled into the parking lot.
