If we're comparing ADHD meds to illicit street drugs, I think the better comparison is Ritalin to Cocaine. Large doses of snorted ritalin feel like coke to me, not amphetamines; you get narcissistic, megalomaniacal, super optimistic, and also kinda anxious/scared. The amphetamine high always felt different to me, more 'down to earth,' not as prone to flights of mental fancy.

Amphetamines do make you lose weight. It's not bullshit at all. It's completely effortless, they make the idea of eating utterly repulsive. Take enough meth and you'll have 0 desire to eat for about 16 hours. It works, but obviously this isn't the healthiest way to go about weight loss.

I had an aunt die of lung cancer brought on by her two pack a day habit last year.

Something to keep in mind about smoking is, while your chances of getting lung cancer aren't exactly 100%, it's an awful way to die if you do get it. My mom described my aunt's death to me, apparently she was in utter agony and terror until she lost consciousness. It scared me straight off of cigs; I'm vaping now and haven't touched a smoke since the night she died.
