Would someone born in 1997 associate their childhood more closely with 2000-2006 things like Tamagotchi, PS2, homosexuality getting you thrashed into a locker, Yu gi oh, spiky hair, etc.? Or 2006-2009 things like youtube, The Big Bang Theory, homosexuality being socially accepted, Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy, iphones, and playstation three?

A mix of both, but mostly 2000-2006 imo.

Definitely more of the 00s. I was born in 92 and barely remember the 90s that much.
>>
I mean I was born in 96, so I associate that first half with my "childhood" and the second half with my preteen/teen years.

Though I continued playing yugioh until I was like 17.

I didn't mention the 90s. I was comparing early 2000s to late 2000s.

I was born in 1987, and the last year that really feels like childhood is either 1998 (a definite) or 1999 (a maybe). I'd imagine the 2000s are the same way for 1997 borns. To me, 1998 is as firmly childhood as 1993.

I know and I'm saying they'd be far too young to remember early 00s that much.

How can you not remember? I still remember link to the past ocarina of time and hi there face here

I (the 1987 poster) put my claim on childhood stuff as running from about 1992 to 1998. There were certainly things I enjoyed from before, but I don't associate them with childhood since I don't remember them, ie the 1989 Batman movie which I apparently really liked when I was two.

1998 here, I associate my childhood more with PS2, flashgames and spiky hair. 2000-2006 was kinda the end of widespread violence in schools as well so no gay bashing.

I remember 98 and 99 I guess, and playing the Crash Bandicoot games and Resident Evil games and Tekken actually, yeah I was a sonygger. But most of my formative years were in the 00s.

Yeah the same. I remember watching one of the old Batman movies in theatres actually, the Joell ones I think it was the one with Arnold and Uma Thurman.

I remember my first console was an Xbox that my cousins gave to my sister for her birthday, a little bit after the 360 came out.

holy shit I spent so much of my life on that thing, still use it today also.

Played the fuck out of Crash TTR, Splinter Cell, Twinsanity, and Halo 2.
