I'm super cheap, I buy hobby type stuff used, and only at really good prices. I just wait until I find someone who will give me the price I want.

I also think about purchases I've made in a week or month before buying stuff, for food or stuff under $20 I look back a week in my head, usually stick to $60 a week of leisure money mostly used on food with friends

For bigger purchases I loom back up to a month, make sure my chequeing account has a solid amount of money too. I get bonuses points if I have an income at the time
>>
>>38094786
Pasta is really cheap an easy to make, and if you buy meat that's a day away from expiring, you can get it cheap as well. You could make 2-4 servings of chicken marsala for less than 20 dollars. Or you could make a simple roux and a whole box of pasta (like mac n cheese but not instant) for less than 5 dollars a day.

Or you could eat maruchan.

How I make black beans
Stuff to get:
>1 lb of dry black beans
>1 sweet onion
>2 tomatoes
>2 bell peppers, don't really matter what kind, I like 1 green and 1 red
>garlic
>olive oil
>ground cumin
>bay leaves
>salt

Process:
>put beans in a bowl of water, water should cover an inch or two above bean level. Do NOT add any salt or anything, just water
>let sit overnight
>drain, rinse, repeat until water is clear
>put in pot of water and start boiling it
>put in whole tomatoes
>cut onion in half, put a half of it in the pot still in big pieces and layers
>add a lot of olive oil, I aim for 3 tablespoons
>one tablespoon of crushed garlic, or like 4 or 5 cloves (I'm just guessing, you need a lot of garlic though)
>toss in a couple of bay leaves
>stir every so often
>let simmer for like 5 hours. Sometimes I can get good beans after 3 hours of boiling, sometimes I leave it at a low simmer overnight. Just bite a bean or two whenever you wanna check it
>when the beans are tender/soft to your liking, pull out the big remnants of the tomatoes, onion, and bay leaves

While it's boiling you can do this stuff:
>dice up the rest of that onion from earlier
>dice up the bell peppers
>cook the onions in olive oil until they're translucent, no need for them to get brown and crispy
>add the bell peppers and cook them for a bit too
>add this mix of onions and bell pepper to the finished beans (after you pull out the tomatoes and onion and bay leaves)
>salt the whole thing to whatever pleases your cholesterol

badda bing badda boom, you got yourself a delicious pot of black beans that should last you for 3 or 4 days. It's best served with some rice, maybe a slice of cheese, and maybe a fried egg or two. I also like to fry some day old rice with lime and cilantro. Delicious, healthy, and fulfilling.
Usually I only pay about $7 on ingredients, except I already have olive oil, cumin, a bag of bay leaves, and a sack of rice. Grocery prices vary where you live.

hes my tips! im trying my hardest to follow them okay but im only human

>dont buy junk food. no mcdonalds no pizza
i have to admit however i recently bought some, but my excuse was i was starving for days as my bux just came, and it was a holiday yesterday so everything besides junkfood joints were closed. i only blew like 35$~? dollars approximately for like 2-3 days of food. could of been much worse, as it has been in the past

>buy lots of parboiled rice, and beans, cans of sardines, bananas. pineapple juice
these are tier 1 in terms of cost efficiency and taste and general food quality. cheap food in bulk is good.

>blow all ur money instantly so you arent in a position in life where you are always not trying to buy mcdonalds at 4am
im fucking starving right now and im waiting for the grocery stores to open. i hate wasting money, so i have to suffer until i can spend money semi-wisely

fucking canada day. i walked 40 minutes to walmart and arrived at 6:55am and waited 5 minutes because they open at 7am, only to see the sign said they were closed because of canada day

my hands were shaking and my facial expression was very stiff

Instead of buying expensive foods, buy things like oats and rice in bulk (10+kg), its really cheap, resulting in a weeks worth of calories for as little as $15 AUD. Doesn't taste great, but beggars can't be choosers, and it's warm + easy to prep.

I used to eat rice with saucisson for dinner. The cheapest saucisson are like 2-3 euros and I only ate a few slices per meal, so it lasted me a week or two. Plus the cheaper it is the more grease it has, which means it should taste pretty rank but it kind of melted inside the hot rice. Not the tastiest of meals but it was pretty comfy in a way.

Industrial cookies are also comfy cheap food. They cost less than one euro for a good amount of sugar. A big jar of apple sauce and some cheap cookies and I felt like a king.

I'm currently living in Brazil's countryside. Unlike big cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, renting a nice studio apartment here is not an issue. Everything else is reasonable priced as well. I guess that it holds true for all SA. Although $300/mo is a little extreme (I don't own a car, I don't go out and I live in a studio apartment).

I'm not sure I would recommend it to gringos like you. Violence is kind of an issue here, although I've never been mugged. But I suppose that's mostly due my NEET-ish nature.
>>
>>38096348
You fucking idiot, why don't you dumpster dive?
Like, you're right AT the supermarket, they throw out food that's perfectly fine, but you're waiting to pay for it?
I haven't paid for non-luxury food (chocolate and coffee) in about 3 months, and I've been eating healthier than ever sicne they throw away fresh veg and read every day.
>>
>>38100727
Not that guy, but a lot of grocery stores throw out food into specialized compactors that can only be accessed by workers. They aren't like dumpsters where just any schumck can jump inside and grab whatever.

Its to keep vagrants from swarming the place all the time.
>>
>>38100773
True, I have to bike 40 minutes to lidl to have normal wheelie bins, and the majority of large chain supermarkets chain their bins, but the smaller ones, or in more upscale neighbourhoods there's less restrictions.
That dude should do some research into it if he's struggling so much.
>>
>>38095377
Probably cheaper to buy a broom than to buy the stuff you need to make this.

Idk if this theory would work in practice, but I thought about saving enough money for an rv and just living in it. Catch water from the rain and bath myself with that and drink it as well, no power necessary but if needed save up for so let panels as well.

I don't need much just an acoustic bass and food which a garden could take care of. I can practice with my electric bass at my bandm8's slash freinds house (or use so let panels for that if I get them) this way I would need no bills to pay so therefore I could live my plan b dream of being a comfy hermit who still hangs out with his few freinds. Idk how that's gonna work though with only 10 bucks to my name and my current temporary job being so dry atm
>>
>>38104947

>>
>>38095343
Who cares how long it is when you don't have to watch it? Throw it in a slow cooker and set an alarm.
>>
>>38104747
Whole foods is usually cheaper and tastier. The problem is longer time cooking. I would buy the bigass bags of rice and lots of frozen vegetables. With a decent spice rack and some aromatics you can whip up some pretty nice stir fries.

It's been years since I grew anything but onions, potatoes, and garlic nearly grow themselves. Tomatoes are pretty easy too if you have space from them. You can get 5gal buckets and fill with topsoil if you want to do pot. If you have space you could have so much zucchini, squash, and pumpkin you will have to give them away. Cucumbers like to get out of control too.
>>
>>38097977
You know you can make fishing rods with bamboo ,or just sticks like broom handles and stuff, and some string. A nets not necessary at all as long as you have a cooler. Also if you can't buy food then why can you afford fishing supplies. Also for baits get some worms from the ground

I like to ask people if I can borrow a dollar. You can't hit the same person too often but every 7-10 days is good enough for them to forget. It can add up to another $10/wk. When walking home I go by a couple drive throughs and look for dropped coins. I used to be friends with a wine store man and he would give me the sample bottles when they did taltings. I'd sell them $1/ea or $6/case, people used them for crafts and shit.

Obviously you don't dress like a thief while doing it. Go to the markets in a nicer area. No one expects a man wearing a shirt and slacks to steal so they will pay no attention unless you're waddling with a noticeable bulge and keep looking over your shoulder. Just buy a few big cheap things and stash the smaller pricy things like oils, spices, etc.. When I was underageb&I would buy a few pounds of sugar, box of raisins, and steal the little jar of yeast. Fuckload of kilju for around $0.1 a pint. The trick is make it lower alcohol so it is easier to fionish dry. I guess when you have babby virgin liver 9% is plenty on an empty stomach. Mix with a little sprite and it only tastes kind of shitty.

1) Go on a country-wide job search. Odds are you'll find the highest wage in a major metro area or other high cost of living area.
2) Post an ad on that city's CL for someone's apartment garage fob in exchange for $100/mo or something like that. Driveways work too, but homeowners are less likely to be amenable.
3) Buy a cheap gym membership. $40 in most cities, $20 or below if you get lucky.
4) Live out of your car and save.
5) Always be job searching. Job hop and repeat the process until you have around $100k in savings.
6) This will be plenty to buy a modest parcel of land in a rural area where you've managed to find employment (don't sweat the wage, just make sure it'll give you enough for food and health insurance) and a used 5th wheel with some left over.
7) Construct an off-grid rammed-earth dwelling on your land and educate your self on self-sufficiency methods. Grow your own food and raise your own meat.
8) Keep a part-time job or work periodic gigs/contracts as you wish in order to pay for luxuries. Live a peaceful, stress-free life. Always have a year's worth of living expenses in cash on hand (if this is above $15k, you're doing it wrong). Make music/art, tinker, create, breathe the fresh air.

>totally fucking skint
>two hour train commute to college
>they tell me to come in for an interview about the degree level course for this September
>leave my house at half ten to get to college by one
>get there
>no tutors around
>they fucked off for a meeting on another campus and I got an email telling me at ten that morning

Twelve pounds fucking seventy just wasted, not to mention five hours taking in the famously flat and disinteresting scenery along the way. If I had any other options I'd tell them to shove their bloody course.

What you should go is call up all the nonprofits in your town, and ask them if there's any state or federal grant or foundation money they could get to do something cool or helpful for people if they had the first $20 grand they have to raise to qualify for the program.

Than make 10 or 15 of those $20k seed grants.

That doesn't take a huge chunk of your net worth, it would all be a great tax write-off, and your popularity in your town would be dramatically transformed.

You should come to the UK and rent a flat with/for me. I'm an upbeat and positive person, despite being an impoverished /r9k/ poster. I'll show you the golden trim on the swamp of life no matter how far up the melancholia mountain you find yourself.

This is the best idea. As a rollercoaster entrepreneur with a great niche, 15k would turn my operation around. Maybe to some people 15k is nothing, but for the right small business, it could be just the input that puts them over the tipping point.
Great idea, Anon, people will genuinely love you if you do this.

>nobody in the thread is actually poor
As expected.

I get ~350$ monthly needbuxs, have ~220$ of monthly various charges + internet so I have ~130$ per month to live.
And guess what? That's alright. I buy mainly
** rice and pasta to get full
** lardons and cheap sausages when I want meat
** canned vegetables
** sugar that i mix with water when I want something sweet
*** some fruits or very cheap chocolate when I want to give myself a treat

And I'm sure I could probably buy more food or save a little more money if i went to large and cheap supermarkets instead of the small one near my house if I wasn't lazy.

I'm on minimum wage and low expenses... So not technically poor because I have the opportunity to save, $60 was an over estimate. I eat out 2-3 times a week. So closer to 20-30. Even then I don't always do it every week, I have heavier weeks if I go to a movie with a friend or there is an even happening so it could even out to $60 a week in a bad month I suppose.

I'm not working fulltime now so $60 would eat a lot of my money but still could save

>pour a bunch of beans into a container
>sort out the beans from the occasional bit of debris
>toss the beans into a crockpot
>throw in some spices and salt
>cook for half a day
>consume
>soak crockpot in water

Beans are as low effort as you can get. Even rice is more effort intensive.

are canned veggies cheaper than frozen? I feel like canned have a lot of salt in them that you would already find in other cheap foods
>>

>are canned veggies cheaper than frozen?
Where I am yes because they only sell high quality frozen stuff so it's not worth, but that's probably because I buy food in the "local next home" store.

Now that I think about it I should probably start buying frozen food again. Frozen products sell in big stock but it's probably worth if you compare the quantity it in the long run, I will need to walk a bit more but it can't hurt.

Still some frozen stuff are a bit of a pain to cook right, since you have to get them out of the fridge and let them sleep for a bit.

How to get drunk on a shoestring budget?
I already buy goon (mass produced, boxed wine) and really cheap vodka, but it's still fairly expensive and I was looking for other options.

If any other anons want to buy drugs as cheap as you can get it (especially if you're in a shit country and it's expensive), then the BEST idea is always to buy in bulk. As big as you can, most dealers often have discounts for buying in bulk, because they like to get rid of it quickly and the less people they have to see, the better. Buying several ounces at a time can literally half the price of buying it in small doses, you just have to build up your cash and buy it in large doses.

Not gonna get more cheaper than that unless you wanna drink Colt 45 or make your own homebrew.
