Question for robots.
How do you cope when you say something genuinely stupid on 4chan, or the internet in general? Do you close the thread, or do you pretend you were being retarded the whole time, or bully the people pointing out your idiocy, or do you double down on your opinion because conviction makes you appear smart?
Personally, if it's on 4chan I close the thread so I can hide from the mean replies and pretend I'm not an idiot. If it's any other website, I never post.

>Not owning up to your own idiocy
You sound like a faggot. I don't like faggots. Faggots disgusts me.

On 4chan i close the thread and on any other site i just delete my comment. I feel so ashamed aswell. Fuck i get anxious even talking to people online.

I try to make the other person look stupid by implying that what I said was "obviously" something different then what they took it as.
I doubt it works though.

I motherfucking knew it. Should've known better. Well, from now on I'll just lurk and ignore.
I feel more ashamed for coming back to this shithole after a month ban than I do for all of my cringy posts combined.

usually i will chastise myself for being a fucking moron, apologize for being retarded if it calls for it, delete if possible. if it's an incorrect opinion/stance because i was overlooking facts/something has changed that i didn't know about, read the replies and reassess my point of view. if it was something like a grammar mistake/using a term incorrectly i just take note of it and i'm glad it was on the internet, now i won't make that mistake irl.
try to reply if it seems like someone put genuine effort into stopping me from making an ass of myself (aka explaining why an opinion/stance is incorrect without personal attack), play a game of "i'm so stupid could you please explain it to me? okay i still don't understand tho i think you're wrong!" with those who are just being hypocritical of a simple human error. sometimes people waste tons of time arguing when i already know i'm wrong. serves them right for being annoying, unconstructive sacks of shit.
Admit I was wrong if I truly believe I was. But I never am.
