Fuck it, here's what you do. If you don't have to be around people, cut most of your hair off. Then draw a bath, add salt and vinegar. Take a book you don't really care about getting wet, get in the bath and slide down until your head (not your face) is submerged. Read the book for about thirty minutes and you should be okay.

For a while I could scrape off these strips of dried skin from my scalp and although I was thoroughly disgusted, I enjoyed it for some reason, like you'd feel popping pimples or scratching your anus is satisfying while being aware that it's a bad thing. this person's advice is good as far as fighting dryness. i've only dealt with moderate dandruff, which is why i say use it every other day, but you could use if every day probably. coconut oil is better than olive as far as i know, but usually more expensive. there's loads of other products to moisturize your scalp too.
