Is dorming in college really all it's cracked up to be?

Living in a dorm is fun. It's kind of like being at a really long summer camp. There's always something stupid happening, someone who's willing to share the booze or weed they snuck in, and babes. The thing is once you start to mature mid way through your second year you start to absolutely fucking hate it.

That's what I figured. The whole "away from my parents , live like I'm in Vegas 24/7" thing probably loses its novelty after a while.

Being in a dorm (for me, and a lot of others I presume) was/is better than being at home -- but if you want to kill yourself when you're at home, you're still going to want to kill yourself when you're in a dorm.

does anybody have any tips for incoming freshman?

I met my best friends in the dorms. First time I drank a beer, smoked a cigarette, smoked pot, did ecstasy, all with those people. I was pretty sheltered going in, but I repaid them later by introducing them to acid and cocaine. I still live with two of my dorm mates and I'm 25.

Dorm life is going to be awful for most robots. If you're autistic like me and entirely incapable of making any friends then you should just commute. There is nothing like the soul crushing loneliness of being confined in a tiny cubicle away from your parents for a year.
