Why don't normal people care about technology? Why aren't they into building robots and automating tasks?
Because all they care about is spending time "working" so they can feel like they're useful for something, and then can afford to spend time "having fun" so they can pretend to be alive.

The same kind of person that upon hearing that robots will replace all jobs will say "but if no one has to work, what on Earth will people do all day?!?!"
imagine if everyone were intereated in the same thing
but seriously i live in the bay area and almost everyone is into tech here

I'm honestly concerned that automation in the far future will lead to degeneracy due to people not having a purpose in their life and turning to hedonism.

>if no one has to work, what on Earth will people do all day
Suicide. When full automation happens I bet a lot of people will kill themselves or at least adopt a way of living that's going to shorten their lifespan.
>can get laid
>can smoke weed and kick it with some funny as fuck friends
>can go play games or see a movie
>can make 90k a year doing biz management
Or
>waste life doing expensive nerd shit
Gee i wonder why not

because its boring nerd shit. most people who do this stuff were probably bullied at some point so look to programming because it's the only place they have complete control over anything.
Not really though, my first paragraph is just shitposting. Probably because it's hard and most people don't have the patience.
