Honestly I've never had this happen to me at work. We have a guy who sings happy birthday on people's birthdays but that's it. For the most part I'd say it's pretty traditional. A lot like that movie Office Space.

If I started working at a place that did this I would probably suffer through but start sending out job applications elsewhere.

My first impulse however would be to get up and leave and never come back. Then again I get that impulse with my current job pretty frequently.

Avoid the corporate workspace if you can. It can get pretty soul crushing.

I'm in Australia and I quit work about 10 years ago because I hated it and roasties made it miserable.

I found out while I was working there that they were trying to 'feminise' the organisation, which explained why 9/10 of the first round applicants had been male while about 7/10 of those who got the jobs were women. After I left I ended up going on Centrelink where 9/10 of the unemployed are male - while 9/10 of the staff who work for Centrelink and various job agencies are women.

I found out the other day that the organisation I worked for back then recently become 'white ribbon approved'. White Ribbon is an organisation that gets the government, police, military, corporations, etc to promote the idea that males are inherently violent towards women and need to be brainwashed against this, they literally go around getting every city council in the country to put up signs reading "violence against women and children[sometimes they say just 'girls'] is never acceptable", even though a significant portion of victims of domestic violence are male.

I'm fucking glad I'm out of that. Nothing worse than being socially cucked (having to sit around watching roasties have relationships or sleep with Chad), insulted for being a male in various ways, told that women are an oppressed class while they get free jobs, etc - let alone have to go along with white ribbon shit.

I'm ghosting all voting female relatives above 30yo in my life now, because fuck it - then left me to fight for myself in this shitty world.

Yep I agree. I work in an office and I'm absorbed in my work all day and since I never talk to anyone barely anyone bothers me. All my performance stuff I have to do with my manager is conducted through email and not face to face. Lol i worked for pwc. It's actually a criminal organization. Theres maybe 2 permanent staff making 80k a year while everyone else (over 100 people) were making less than minimum wage on temp contracts. I was there for 3 months during which they bought some old cellphone company records and our job was to call people on the list and make up a story about them having some old debt that we needed to collect and if people refused we threatened to call the police to have their stuff auctioned off. We were working comission based meaning if you could convince them they owed 10k you would get 500$. But we usually worked with smaller amounts like 200-300$ which people were more willing to pay. We mostly called older people since they were easier to cheat. i wish i saved some of the emails and and papers they gave me so I could report them to the police.
