>see myself in the mirror
>"Yeah okay that's not too bad"
>see myself in a picture
>I look fucking terrible
NO FAIR
>>37892523
yeah, shit's all crooked
>take picture
>see reflection in window
>think I look okay
>go to bathroom
>look at my face in the mirror
>realize how ugly I am in person
fuck you
>look at myself in the mirror at home
>meh
>look at myself in the mirror in public
>see an abhorrent beast
>>37892523
can anyone explain why this happens
>put on sweatpants and a hoodie
>look normal in the mirror
>see myself in a picture
>look skelly
I hate this
>>37892630
You look slightly different when your face is mirrored as everything is on the opposite side. Cameras do not have this effect so pictures have everything as it appears to other people.
>>37892785
So how I look on pictures is how I look to people?
>>37892523
>see my reflection on accident
>day ruined
>>37892809
Basically yes, but it also depends on the lens type, lighting, angle etc. It's better to record yourself with a decent camera, then you'll see what you actually look like.
>>37892698
>see self in mirror
>not bad, not bad
>tagged in FB photo taken by mom
>ugliest human alive
STOP IT MOM

Taking photos that don't look like shit is an art form, Anon. My cousin cheats by going to nice places and taking photos of himself there. It looks far more natural than taking a shitty bathroom selfie with lighting that highlights every pore in your face.
>>37892862
This is actually true. Phone cameras are wildly distorting, especially up close. A good mirrorless or dslr will show you fairly accurately (and generally more attractive.
>>37892862
>Basically yes
god dammit why
>>37893008
Have you read my entire post, anon?
>>37893030
I've just read it. Let's say I can't get my hands on a decen't camera. what do?
>>37893061
I actually don't know if this works, but from what I've heard: You take a smaller mirror, plop yourself in front of a bigger one, then have fun aligning them so you see yourself from different angles.
>>37893061
somethings are better not known, anon
>>37892989
That also depends on focal length. If it's below 50mm there will be distortion. This is why portrait photographers use either 50mm or 85mm to get a photo that is accurate to your in-person appearance.
>>37893008
In video you will see your body language. It's too fucking weird for me and I avoid seeing any footage of myself for this reason. Still pictures okay. Video holy fuck pls no.
>>37893421
I'm actually the opposite. I usually look like shit in any of my pics
>>37893386
>Phones are about 26-29mm
Hmmm makes you think
>>37894127
Correct. All cell phones pictures will have some distortion for this reason, particularly if subject is very close to the camera.
