Just be straightforward and don't overcomplicate it too much, it's all small talk, it's the experience and time spent getting closer that matters.

Don't overthink it. You don't have to add your own insight to every conversation at work. In the future just laugh things off, and if people keep asking just say you don't want to talk about it.
