I barely go to /pol/ though. One minute everything is fine and I'm posting. Go to /tv/ to respond to a thread, and then I get notified that I've been banned for a post I supposedly made like 5 days ago. I check out the thread in question and it's literally a bunch of personal information of some writer over at Huffpost with another thread attached below. How the fuck does that happen? How did I get banned for a post I didn't make?

I used to have a dynamic IP and I used to get years-old ban warnings all the time whenever I reset my modem thanks to that fucking Goodra autist on /vp/.
Once there was a ban for posting CP as well but most of the time it was just that Goodra fuckwit.

That's not what I meant anon - I was posting without incident then suddenly I got the ban screen telling me that I"" had been permabanned in 2008 for something "I" posted on a board I've never posted on (I think it was /a/).

The only other one that springs to mind was a warning that said "Now that you have seen this warning, it will expire" - but apparently this warning was given in 2015 (again for something I didn't do). I was posting with no problem before that.

For the record, I've only ever been banned once for something I actually did - I got a 1-day ban back in 2012 for trying to post a link.

It happens all the time with phones. My IP changes a few times a day. I've had bans from as far back as 2012 hit me when I get a new IP. You can appeal, but it's faster to just turn airplane mode on and off and get a new clean IP.
