Less normies. More robot type of people- intelligent, misunderstood, lonely, misogynist, racist, and less women as well.
It was actually the majority of the 4chan population in it's prime.

These types of threads are so fucking ironic. newfags trying to act nostalgic over shit that they never experienced.

"no"
>>
>>37827733
Its not that they are nostalgic, its that they wish it hadn't become as popular as it did. But they probably wouldn't know about it because it wouldn't have become the cool and edgy thing to do in 2012 when they were in middle school
>>
>>37827733
Don't forget newfags pretending they're not newfags by calling others newfags
>>
>>37827775
It's funny because it was always "popular". oldfags like to think otherwise to pretend this cesspool was special. When it never was.

When I got here it was late 2007 and I had missed a lot of the mythical dragons and unicorns 4chan had been populated by. It was like going from the age of magic and elves to the age of men.

I still remember when it was perfectly acceptable to post coolface. Nowadays that will get you virtually lynched.

More like pre-2007 (when I showed up) to ~2012, at least for /v/. I don't know what that board is like now because I just gave up.

/pol/ 2016 was the most fun i've had in years. The year of nonstop side splitting laughter for me.

I found 4chan in 2004 while looking for hentai on the high school library computer. Found /h/. A few years later came to /b/ then /v/ and /co/ before it was cancer and eventually here.

>>
>>37828066
People still use that site?
>>
>>37827822
Except that before it would be avoided by people who just thought that it was a worse place than it actually was. Then circa ~2012 people would use it as a thing to prove who was "Hardcore" and would actively try to shill about how depraved the people who would use the website unironically were. Now it is just used as a Zoo by normies who post on r/4chan

Everyone ITT. Look at yourselves. You're constantly talking about this site like a fucking job.
"Oh I worked here since blah blah"
"People "insert date here" wont understand haha
> I understand every form this website took.

You don't realize this but the reason why oldfags leave this site is because they grew the fuck up. There's almost no difference from "pre 2008" 4chan and now. You're just getting mad that "newfags" are acting like you probably acted back then.

You're in a fucking circle that will never change.

I wouldn't call it patience. I spend a few years visitng a selection of boards then change it up when they get annoying for me.

But i'm never going back to /co/. They've burned too many bridges.
>>
>>37828529
I'll be honest. I yearn the day where it would all revert back to the way it was. But I lurk on here less and less as my faith diminishes and I realize that it's all just hopeless. It never mattered. A butterfly can't go back into its chrysalis. No matter how hard it tries

>>
>tfw you don't worry about this stuff and think 4chan is pretty shit desu just some little bits of gold in a pile of shit like it always was.
>>
>>37828654
That's not what I meant. The symbolism at the end implies that i'm the one who wants to revert back. I want to be an ignorant little fucker who got euphoria from looking at these threads.
>>
>>37826910
There were no prime years. Each year has its shit and good moments. People talking about prime years are just recalling the old days through nostalgia goggles. People have been saying 4chan has gone to shit the minute it was made
>>
4chan was never good. I come here because it's shit and a place of shit is where I fit in.
>>
From what I can tell, 4chan has become a lot more "normal" these days. Not in the sense that it's full of normies or normie humor, but just that the way things get talked about is the same as pretty much anywhere else, with possibly more bitterness.

It was already starting to become that way when I first got here in 2009, but even then there would be whole threads were most of the discussion and humor came in the form of the images themselves. There was a lot more creativity it felt like, with threads like "this is steve what to do!" Of course, that stuff still kinda exists on /b/, but most of /b/ these days is just awful, awful porn / girl threads or stupid jokes.

It was livelier. It was more asinine and childish. It was way less political, with most of the racist stuff just being a way for stupid teenagers to vent off steam. There was less of a "point" to it all, other than to be absurd for the sake of it.

Of course, there was still annoying stuff then too, a lot of threads were lame attempts at forced memes or low-effort shitposts. It felt genuinely dumber overall, which isn't actually a good thing.

But it was fun. It was goofy. I am probably typing this with very heavily rose-tinted glasses, but it's hard not to feel that way. I'm not going to say I miss it, because the time I spent there back then was also when I was at my most retarded, so I probably wouldn't enjoy it today. I just wish there was a bit more of that old creative energy these days.
>>
>>37829004
tell steve what to do**
>>
>>37829004
The thing is, is that we grew up, oldfags at least. Very few older people that are new. And yeah the older you get the more bitter you get.
>>
>>37829104
I guess that's true. It probably would've been just as awful if I had been the age I am now back then.
>>
I have been on 4chan since 2005. You people know what anons were discussing at that time?

All people was like "4chan is dead, some cancer is killing it. 4chan went to hell thanks to normies and newfags hurr durr".

Resuming, 4chan was always like this, people bitching about their little club ruined when it always was shit actually.
>>
>>37826910
This is your biggest regret in life? Not browsing 4chan more? Fucking kill yourself.

>>37826910

>>37828265
tbf there are certain aspects that have disappeared with quatrochan's growing popularity as well as the internets growing measures of security(mostly improvements on human error/lack of knowledge). There will be new exploits and laughs but the grass is always greener and all that.

You're living in it. The early to mid 2000s were cringe as fuck in retrospec, the early 2010s were full of spam, servers going down constantly, tripfags out of control and so much more.

People who complain about the current state of 4chan are either bitter oldfags who can't let go of the past or teenagers too trying hard to fit in.
>>
>>37829504

4chan is really just a bunch of people growing up together.

I'm sure the average user age (and maturity) has steadily increased over 4chan's history. Can 4chan continue to recruit and raise the young or will it grow old and die without reproducing its mind-state, ideology, and personality? can it stay relevant as the counter-est counterculture? Or will the next generation raise their own?
