The bigger issue is being yourself doesn't always equal being you best.
You know what a lot of people's brains tell them to do? Run when scared, overindulge when sad, get angry when left wanting and hate when you can't find control over it all. When you tell someone to "be themselves" you are telling them to put that gun to their mouth and pull the trigger, you are telling them to not try at anything, to not work to be anything, that the state of mind they are in now is their "best state" when for most people it is their worst state. You shouldn't be telling them to "be yourself" you should be telling them "to become what you respect", "become what you want to be", "become something greater than you", because that is what a lot of people need to do to get unchained by the vices and fears they poison their lives with. Fuck you monsters in the shadows that tell people to be something they don't have a full understanding of themselves. Fuck you arrogant spoiled pricks that cast such toxic thinking into the well of betterment. Never -Never- be yourself, always strive to be something you would love to be, something that when you look back 30 years down the road you can say to yourself "well done"

I stopped trying to be someone else and since I'm an oldbot, just decided to say fuck it and be my nasty, bitter old self to everyone like I am on the internet.
