It refers to being erased from existence by God.
"Hades", "Sheol" etc., are referring to being dead, not being in a place called Hell.

The use of "lake of fire", "Gehenna" etc., refers to a burning rubbish dump near Jerusalem used to dispose of things.
Being cast into the lake if fire means you are being disposed of.
