by realizing there is nothing you can do to change the genetic traits you were given, you have accept life for what it is and focus yourself on things which befit you or make you happy instead because if you dwell on ideas which make you unhappy then you will become unhappy.

Self acceptance also has a lot to with not caring about what other people think of you, the majority of people want to knock you down a peg and to feel superior over you, they can't do so if you don't care about their opinions.

I guess to summarize you should hold your ego above everyone else around you.
