Lending money to friends and family is a huge mistake because of the mutual trust they think they don't have to repay the loan, because you're friends/family you won't do anything bad to them. In the first place you should never lend out money without getting in writing an agreement to repay the loan. Without an agreement in writing you have no case in court if you sue them. Demanding friends and family sign a contract to accept a loan from you is crass though, it's pretty much an asshole thing to do and shows you don't trust them. Dude I know exactly where you're coming from. I'd give my mom money for bills, I'd fund her to be able to go to work, after helping her with all that and the bills, and doing all sorts of work around her house, she'd still ask to borrow money.
