It does suck anon but it's like this; you know how you can feel intense feelings of affection towards people and still care about them the next day but not as much? It sounds like this girl went through the same thing with you. You waited too long to try to advance the relationship. You should have tried asking her out when her affection for you was at its peak instead of when it declined.
