What ultimately made you realize spiritual enlightment and buddhism

I've never been religious.

Mom and dad never brought me to church when I was growing up, so I didn't develop any conception of human divinity.

If I hadn't bothered to adopt Christianity when I grew older and realized many people believed in God, I certainly wasn't going to go off and become a Buddhist, just to conform to a slightly less dogmatic and institutionalized philosophy.
