How do I get an 'alternate' gf?
One that will sit on my lap and play grand strategy games while we talk about our favourite shoegaze and ambient albums?
One that won't mind me smoking like a train and understands if I want a day to myself without seeing anyone?

You can start by at least getting the catch-all term right, which is "alternative".
"alternate" means "every other" or "on the second turn".
Anyways, go to your local record shops and local game stores. Look up their facebook pages, see if they have game nights and live music nights, see what other events are posted up on their walls or if there are flyers for you to look at.
Follow what you're into, that way you won't have to fake an interest and be miserable.
