I've watched 100's of hours of his lectures. He has a dozen or two talking points he repeats over and over. I want to support him, I really do.
>tfw no new ideas for decades.
His Biblical series is the same 3 hours every lecture. He literally has a recurring inside joke that he'll never get to talking about the Bible stories he advertised he would. All he talks about are crypto-fascist and pop psychology self help talking points with some honestly profound ideas and concepts mixed in on occasion.
>"You have to see your goals eh, like Marduk, the Mesopotamian King of the Gods..."
>Proceeds to retell the Mesopotamian origin story for the fourth time in the same lecture.
>"Bloody Marxists and ess jay double yous!"
Overall 8.5/10 great effort, but he's not worth any long term attention unless he presents new ideas soon.

Nice, I haven't broken the twenty hour mark yet
I guess it makes sense that's repetitive, he does college lectures and that's pretty much coming up with a couple quality hours of content and giving them again and again to different groups
Also I don't think any of his actual lectures are included because the college probably doesn't allow that and you can tell since it's all fun stuff and not reading books
I think he used to do a low key podcast with other people, that's probably different
idk I don't think anyone has 100s of hours of pure original ideas
>>37631875
>Also I don't think any of his actual lectures are included because the college probably doesn't allow that and you can tell since it's all fun stuff and not reading books
He definitely puts out his actual lectures, but there must be lab sessions and other content that is students only. He mentions assignments and readings that are obviously not on YouTube.
Overall I really like him, but his critique of the "New Atheists" saying they disregard the deeper subtleties of religious narratives is weak to me.
Guys like Sam Harris are against belief in deities as concrete objective entities and all the problems that come with that, not the exploration and appreciation of those and associated ideas as narrative and metaphor. His hang up on this is I think why his conversations with Sam have been so fruitless and frustrating.
Other than that, though, he's great.
>>37632411
Sam harris thinks socialism is a great means of organizing production too, what an intellectual heavyweight.
>>37632442
>implying it's not
Let me guess, you're a lolberg?
>>37632457
I don't know what a lolberg is. There's numerous examples historic economic anecdotal and otherwise about why socialism doesn't work. Are you one of those chubby weaboo alt right dudes who unironically thinks socialism would work in a higher moral order?
>>37631816
have you read crime and punishment and other dostoevsky? read Solzhenitsyn? gulag archipelago?
if not you bloody well better clean your room!
>>37632506
No, I consider myself an anarcho-communist.
>>37632442
When did he say this? I think I've only ever heard him mention anything like socialism in regards to UBI and AGI.
>>37631816
Yeah I get a sense that part of him really wants to convert Harris to religion but he fell short in both podcasts vs. Harris by going on tangents that got away from Sam's main arguments.
>>37632537
don't forget about saving your father from the belly of the whale eh? these metaphors are complex! were were chips for christs sake! and that's no joke!

Meant to reply to this, brb gonna kill myself.
hes none of those. hes just a sjw liberal who wants to make money and have a prestigues position in academia so he shits out bullshit that people want to hear
he is hot air and white noise and he does not give a remote fuck about you, your pain or anything to help you. he just wants popularity, to get the respect of a general group of people, so he caters to them.
he does not understand the pain, suffering and frustrations that a young male faces today. he is a fucking old baby boomer FUCK who will sell all of you our in a heartbeat for a fucking potato chip. stephan "not an argument eks dee" mollyjew is infinitely better in terms of listening to, because hes correct sometimes

>Still hasn't figured out that Molymeme is a mind controlling sociopathic lizard man.
You all need to get your act together
>>37632728
>muh no true commie
You know, Nietzche talked about this, and he was a genius. And Dostoevsky too! It's like, read The Gulag Archipelago and you'll see what communism gets you. A bloody mess, that's for sure. The damn Marxists go on about post-modernism but it's like, if you don't have any moral center then what the hell are you going to do with your life? And the answer isn't obvious!
It's like, clean your damn room! Start somewhere! But don't give in to Marxist ideology I've seen what happens when you do and it's not a road you want to go down, believe me. The 20th century can bloody well attest to that.
And people ask me, well do you believe in God? And it's like, well, what do you mean by God? And they say, an omniscient and omnipresent creator that birthed the cosmos and then it's like, well what the hell do you mean by cosmos?!
>>37632760

I hope this post is satirical, ever heard of human nature?
>>37633325
Sounds like a great idea anon!
>>37632936
Sure I'll give you that, but Stef is a dishonest presenter and debater, and he relies on theatrics to get his point across and uses tricks when he can't present a strong argument.
Like he will scapegoat some trauma from a caller's past in order to criticize the caller's personality and behaviors and then will divert to how society is fucked up because it doesn't operate like his idealist utopia, and thus he maintains credibility in front of his audience as being the #1 "philosophy" show without even presenting a proper counterargument to the caller. It's a pattern with him you'll notice a lot once you're aware of it.
>>37633321
have you ever questioned yourself about how money came into existance?
>>37633478
yes, thats why i stopped listening to him
but still he still presents some ideas and topics that basically not much other people talk about. there is some truth in what he says, but something is wrong with him for sure thats why i dont fuck with him
still, sometimes he'd talk about some genuinely real shit
this guy in the op's is a tier 1 cuckaroonie-roo slimeball. i dont trust him for anything. atleast mollyjew says some real shit from time to time
