I fell into our pool when I was 5. I couldn't swim but my dad just threw me a watering can I had to use that to keep me afloat and doggy paddle to the side of the pool where my dad picked me up. I legit thought I was drowning I even inhaled water.

But that's how I learned to swim and do other survival based stuff like hiking and Bushcraft as well as gardening because I never want to die of my own inability to survive. That in turn lead to a rather successful military career.

We're fine now, and objectively I've seen worse (kid getting thrown through a windshield during a car accident, big ass snaking eating my chicken, another roost getting torn to a bloody pulp by a fox, hitting my cat with the lawn mower), but for some reason that scene of my mom always stuck with me. This happened two or three years ago.

It had a bunch of holes in its head. As bad as that is, it still seemed to be okay, and it acted so indignant and prideful the whole time. I'm sure it was better that than having worms eating it alive. I let it go and it ran back to its mother. The warbles landed near an ant hill, so hopefully justice was served.

So I guess it turned out okay, but it was still fucked up to see.
