I believe it was the First Battle of Ypres, since my grandmother's family Bible has a note written in it from 1914 by her grandfather saying that his son Fritz was killed on the Western Front. I actually am not sure about my other uncle, I don't know if he was killed at Ypres or not. I'm pretty sure my uncle Fritz was. The other was named Richard, and I am not entirely sure what his fate was. I have only one photograph of him, standing in his uniform with a friend. I need to ask my grandma again.
