I'll be honest, I'm actually the type of guy you just described.
I befriend a literal loser NEET, claiming I'm his fellow kin and then abandoned him.

But I wasn't lying when I claimed to be a social reject either, I'm a kissless virgin at 20. However I do have a lot of friends both irl and on the internet.
I just rarely meet up with most of them irl.
When I befriended this NEET over an MMO. He was so unbearingly autistic it got to the point I wanted to just block him and move on.

And all he ever wanted to do was erp. he was also unbelievably clingy. He would try to start normie conversations with me but obviously fail.

Now you may wonder why i chose to be with this guy for so long if i found him so autisically annoying. The answer is simple, I wanted to make myself feel better.

I would get my irl and long time internet friends alike over discord and we would play on voicechat. I would subtlety highlight what I'm doing irl or even some times lie about it altogether to make me feel superior.
