I don't remember if I've ever read any noir literature I bought The Big Sleep after watching the Bogart flick with my brother but haven't read a page. I've always been into noir films though; the thing about them is that the aesthetic is visually flaunted. William Gibson puts so much effort into describing shit, then a paragraph after the setting is finally established he changes the environment of the character(s) again. The pace is all over the place. Sometimes it reads like some weeb's fanfiction, like when he describes that colorful throwing star pic related. The books I read rely a lot less on the settings and more on the thoughts and relationships of the characters.

There were a few parts I enjoyed in neuromancer though, like when that illusionist was shooting up opiates on the floor and turned it into a whole act.

Guess you're the one case out of billions of people over hundreds of years that has incurable anxiety and you rightfully should stop trying to fix it. Or maybe, just maybe, you're being a snowflake, and you need to grow a pair. I know exactly what you suffer from, because I've been there. However I didn't have the luxury of sitting on my ass and don't nothing forever, I had to work. Yes it sucks, and you look like a fucking weirdo breathing hard and never talking to anyone. Until you realize you're not lucky enough to drop dead when you have to speak to someone. And since you already know your symptoms are caused by the anxiety, you've cleared one of the biggest hurdles. You literally can, and have to, walk yourself through it and tell yourself it's just in your head, work on your breathing, and hey past it. And guess what? It never fucking goes away, it'll get so much better that you have full days where you never feel it, and other days you'll feel it but you'll be good at managing it and people won't be able to notice you're freaking out. But in the end you'll eventually feel much better overall, and you'll even be able to convince a few people you're normal. Please don't come at me with that shit that you're different, it's the same for everyone, and can be cured the same by everyone.

I really can't fathom that you don't want to change though. I was struck with anxiety at age 22, and I fucking hated it. I was never close to being normal, but I never had anxiety or nervousness up until that point, so I was used to feeling comfortable (probably from being such an autist I didn't know I was weird). The only thing I could focus on after going to a doctor and finding out I wasn't going to have a heart attack, was fixing myself. Couldn't afford a psychiatrist, there are no support groups close, so I googled it, and discussed with my brother how to deal with it. Took about two years to get where I'm at today, still have anxiety and panic attacks, but I can deal. I'll stop trying to pay now since I'm sure I'm shit at it. Just hoped to possibly help, or inspire you. Sorry.

Well i'm not giving up or anything as mentioned earlier i'm going to support group meetings and i've managed to actually converse without issue over voice chat.
I've always been like this as far as i can remember and forcing full on exposure, willingly or otherwise, seems to do nothing but make it worse so i've opted for the slower approach. Used to be i'd have a similar reaction to people addressing me even through a mic but now i'm fine and people at the group don't cause episodes anymore either. Its just random or not well known people that cause it now.
