Anon, you are no longer considered as under qualified, but as overqualified. Boomers and kikes don't want to pay you what your education is worth, so they don't bother hiring you. While before your education they refused to hire you because you lacked experience.

>>
>>37463204
Probably not, but that is irrelevant for a minimum wage job. An potential employer should see he got into Notre Dame and be giddy to hire a competent individual for the summer. But instead he is shunned.

I know his feels exactly as I have also failed to get a summer job thus far. Coming off back-to-back dean's list semesters in the History Department of a well-respected school. Getting to the point in the summer where no one will bother hiring me for such a short amount of time. My parents will support me no matter what and it is that support that eats away at me as I provide nothing for them. Just a monetary blackhole.
>>
I don't know why but I always get a job instantly (shitty jobs with no requirements). They always give me it on the spot. I haven't failed an interview yet.
>>

Are you retarded? You have to apply to at least 50 places to get 2 interviews.

How do you retards have problems getting jobs? That's pathetic as fuck. You go to college for the sole purpose of getting a job, otherwise you leave with enormous debt. Major in something that is marketable, dumbfuck. It's one thing to go to a prestigious school, why not couple that with a prestigious major? I'm only a 3rd year and I get paid double the federal minimum wage.

>dean's list
this is very easy to get into, in fact there is no point in going to school unless you get on the dean's list consistently. and you're a history major, just fuck off man. you're not marketable so you're not getting hired.

I mean yeah you "deserve" to get a minimum wage job because that's what you're qualified for. But there are people with work experience who they can hire instead, they can pick and choose who they want. While you squandered your life on a worthless subject of academia, other people built up a real resume that attracts employers.

>Major in something that is marketable, dumbfuck.
I'm not that guy but your major is not some kind of saving grace that people make it out to be. Every person I worked with in retail had some kind of engineering or science degree, it was pretty insane. There are a ton of people with arts degrees who end up in jobs making more than STEM grads, and there are arts and STEM grads working at Starbucks for 10 bucks an hour. It's obviously a wide spectrum on both ends and ultimately it comes down to personal ability and networking, and that's why I generally think it's better that people major in something that interests them even if it's not as marketable as say a Civil Engineering degree, because they'll have more incentive to put themselves out there if they enjoy it, and those connections lead to jobs etc etc
>>
>>37463566
>There are a ton of people with arts degrees who end up in jobs making more than STEM grads
>uses reddit as reference
You have to go back.
>>
>>37463566
>retail workers with engineering degrees
from community college? there's no spectrum on this shit my dude, actual engineers are in high demand almost everywhere in the western world, and they likely had to compete for a small number of spots in the engineering program to begin with, so it's not like they are a common job seeker. you could have lied just as easily about doctors working in barbershops. they would literally make more money sitting on unemployment and doing random contracts once in a while, retard.
>>
>>37463566
>Every person I worked with in retail had some kind of engineering or science degree, it was pretty insane.
They were probably losers. In my personal opinion most STEM majors are shit besides engineering or CS. For example Bio is kinda shit without med school. If you have a good GPA in engineering with internships, you will get a job if you keep looking. If you're a shit tier retard who scraped by, you will be fucked. Not all people who major in a good degree will do well in life. I never said it guarantees anything.

>There are a ton of people with arts degrees who end up in jobs making more than STEM grads
Anecdotal evidence is absolutely meaningless. Look at the unemployment rates of art faggots. The successful ones don't make it a good thing to study. You can apply that to acting or theater too. It's a shit degree. If someone got an acting gig with it, it doesn't make it a good major, it makes that person a go getter or insanely lucky or talented.

For that matter, I never said STEM is the absolute best. I am partial to accounting/actuarial studies for job security. I also like finance for earning potential. Engineering is good, but guarantees nothing. I never implied STEM majors are all winners. I'd say most are losers. When you decide on your major, look at the future job market growth for it. That's what matters.

Want to know an underrated major? Nursing. We are always in demand for that, and the pay isn't too shabby.

Academic rather than vocational pursuits are more often than not completely useless.
>>
>>37463661
let me add onto this for all the young people who are clueless: trade school is GOOD

Welding is a very good profession for example. We do not value academics as much as people who can produce for the economy. A nerd with a degree and no experience is useless. Don't be fucking deceived into believing everyone needs a college degree. Most people with a college degree are fucked beyond repair. If you're studying something marketable, do it. If you don't know what you're doing with your life stick to trades or community college and get certification.
>>
>>37462734

As someone who has hired and fired a shit load of people, here's some cold facts of life, OP.

>Bachelor's mean nothing
Unless you are aiming for a low skill job in whatever field you are shooting for these are completely worthless. Everyone wants a masters because Bachelors are so fucking common in any field that asks for a degree. Even if all they want is a Bachelors then you are going to need specialist certifications.

>College choice matters very little
As long as you didn't go to a diploma mill or community college no one is going to care where your degree came from unless they went there. This is the reason Frats exist. The best schools in the country tend to be smaller liberal arts campuses these days, I bet you can't name 3 and neither can your recruiter.

>3.8 GPA
No one gives a shit about this. Did you get your degree? That's all I care about. I'm more interested in attendance awards.

>Business Analytics
Do not call if this. It sounds like horseshit. Pick up your diploma and read what the generic title is. If it's business than that's great.

>applying to jobs

Aim low sunshine. Apply at Wal-mart or some other store just as a stocker for a bit. You need some actual work experience. If you had good attendance or volunteer work push this. You could be the best whatever in the world, but I want someone who is willing to always be there when I need you.

I'm sorry your parents fetishised college, OP. Because most degrees are completely fucking worthless these days. There's just way too many and, worse yet, they no longer give any hint of the quality of individual who has them. It's far more prudent to join a business, work your way up and if you NEED to get a degree to advance then take night courses. When I look at a resume and I see some 25 year old kid with 5+ years of management and relevant experience I'm picking him over some faggot who quotes his GPA at me every day of the week.

This does not apply to Medical and Law degrees.
>>
>>37463751
>Do not call if this. It sounds like horseshit.
I thought so too. A retarded degree name will obviously look bad to employers. Some guy the other day said he was considering "Applied Computing" instead of computer science. he didn't believe me and is probably on a road to unemployment now.

>>
>anon just major in STEM and don't forget to b urself :^)
>>
>>37463848

List your bachelor scool. Most employers aren't going to care and it gives you more resume space.

There's another tip. If your resume is more than a page throw it in the fucking trash. If you don't have 15+ years of relevant experience and you hand me a multiple page resume I'm going to show it to my co-workers and laugh.
>>

>how is it bad
I didn't say it was bad... if you're happy doing what you're doing then that's good, but I'd imagine a lot of people don't feel as happy about where they ended up
>>
>>37463661
>They were probably losers
yeah probably some of them depending on what you mean by "loser" but I feel like the losers in STEM are exactly the kind of people who would listen to your advice and major in something that has good market value but no personal attachment to them. The STEM winners don't need to be told to wisely pick a major, they pick what they're good at and that happens to be math and science in most cases. People should major in what they can be successful at, even if it means risking being unemployed they can at least say they picked what they were best at
>>
>>37463969
>I'd imagine
Indeed you'd imagine. It's quite common for STEM people to go into all sorts of different business in the end. Why do you think they would regret it? I certainly don't. I'm happy with my finance job, I get a nice 6 figure salary and the work is interesting.
>>

>>37464030
I never said STEM is marketable necessarily. Being a good engineer and CS major makes you marketable.

>People should major in what they can be successful at, even if it means risking being unemployed they can at least say they picked what they were best at
no honestly those retards shouldn't go to school. if you were tricked by hs counselors and told you have to go to college, you're sorely mistaken. do not go to college to get a bad degree unless your parents are rich. just do trades or something. STEMfags weren't fucked over because they fell for the stem meme, they fell for the college meme.
>>
>>37464053
>Why do you think they would regret it? I certainly don't.
I don't care much about your personal situation, and because you keep relating it back to how happy and content you are with where you ended up, I get a slight sense that you're actually a little defensive and insecure about it, but maybe I'm wrong. After all, the real engineers who actually build and design shit probably look down on finance scum

> It's quite common for STEM people to go into all sorts of different business in the end

Haha fucking retard. Getting on the dean's list is what you're supposed to do you brainlet moron. Doesn't mean anyone wants to hire you. I love these stupid little undergrad pieces of shit who think the world owes them something for majoring in something worthless. If you were useful enough of a human being to get a job, you would have one by now.

>and joined many clubs
And how does this make you employable, retard?

>STEM major
>those fucking retards who say they're in stem but won't actually reveal their major
STEM is a branch of disciplines you fucktard. There's no such thing as majoring in stem. Even the retards who study garbage don't say "I major in humanities." They just say their actual major. You're pathetic and cowardly for being too afraid to say your degree.

> i do not see how having experience working at mcdonalds or wal-mart will help me
Because you won't get hired as a stem major. You will be working at mcdonald's if you're really lucky unless your 3.9 is in engineering or CS. Which is unlikely because 1) engineers never stop bragging about it. 2) you're clearly too stupid to study something real

your typing style is very easy to spot. interning is one thing, but you legit suggest we get a job at wal-mart to get experience. experience in fucking what? stocking yogurt and diapers? yeah, that's sure gonna help me code later on. you're probably underage and not even done with hs yet, so whatever. also clubs help with networking at least. what do you have to say to that? you act like you are oh so smart and know everything about how people will end up. ill call you in two years when im making 100k fresh out of college.

Dude, work isn't like school. Flipping burgers or stocking shelves means you know what it's like to:
- show up on time every morning
- listen to a boss
- solve problems as they arise ("some autist shat in the vegetable aisle")
- deal with coworkers (that fucker Clark always understocks the pasta)

Unless you get a "career" in academia or get that rockstar researcher job, you'll use not even 5% of what they taught you in school.

I'm an engineering physicist, I haven't solved a differential equation, curled a vector field, or tuned a PID controller since getting out of school.

I tried to get industry jobs for the summer, always failed. I was a mailman my two last summers. My grades were mediocre. My first employer liked my attitude, said "well, you've graduated, that's what counts, and you have some work experience".

Oh yeah, addendum - every now and then we get some fuck from Academia who decided the pay was too shit. They know their one single thing (e.g. punch out algorithms) but they're clueless about everything else. They're slow, they can't adapt to others, they can't compromise.

"Oh but this algorithm works in 100% of any imaginable case" - yeah we don't care, we need to deliver something on time which does what the customer needs, your exotic edge cases will never even come up in the production environment, and if they do, we have contracts and legal and shit to deal with that, while you punch out a bug fix.

Love it or hate it but that's the game.

you really should have done more stuff in your 2nd and 3rd year then. it's not that a shitty job will help you in your future career but it will be a stepping stone for other things. No work experience = autistic shutin to them = no internships. As a general rule, I wouldn't say walmart is the way to go for everyone. but if that's all you can get, take what you can get. If you can't even score an internship do you think you can score a job straight out of college?
Again, if you don't want to I won't stop you.

Why? I'm 21. Miata's are p cool and a 10 cylinder engine also seems nice
>>

Mazda Miata with a 10 cylinder engine is impossible without replacing the whole engine all together... Why would you even want to do that?

Dude, first of all a V10 weighs so much more and takes op a lot more space. Don't even think that you'd be able to fit it in there, also you'd change the whole weight ratio of the car making it a worse drive than before. You'd be ruining a car that was designed to go fast with a small engine.

You have no idea how pathetic that sounds do you? If you want a fast tuned car get a skyline or any Japanese car that's easy to modify the engine with. Not replacing a whole engine, that's just childish and especially immature for the reasons you gave us.
>>37465617
I'm not shitting up the board but just describing the situation to you. You can't rely on your parents forever.
>>
>>37465627
> If you want a fast tuned car get a skyline or any Japanese car that's easy to modify the engine with
I don't want a fast tuned car, and I definitely don't want that generic ricing shit. I don't want to spend $10,000 to make my car loud as shit and suck ass. I just want a V10 Miata, because nobody else has one. Yeah it'll be hard to do, but that's why it's impressive.
>>
>>37465642
It's not impressive and no one will think it's cool that you cramped a V10 in your small Miata.
>I don't want to spend $10.000 to make my car loud as shit and suck ass.
How much do you think replacing an engine costs? And tuning a skyline isn't making it only louder.
>>
>>37462702
Have you even tried temping? Greenhouses? Construction? Or did you apply to cushy sit-down jobs?
>>
>>37465662
>It's not impressive and no one will think it's cool
Says you. I think it's cool. Imagine popping that hood, and seeing that big ass engine in there, roaring and shaking. It will be glorious.
>How much do you think replacing an engine costs?
Maybe a couple of grand or something. I could find a cheap mexican shop that will do it for next to nothing.
>>
>>37465685
Replacing an engine and cramping a V10 in there is both impossible because it won't fit and because it would ruin the car as a whole. It would cost you more than 10 grand trust me.
>>
>>37465724
Even getting a V10 engine without putting it even in the car would set you back at least a couple Grand.
>>
>>37465744
Plus there's an entire drivetrain that isn't set up for that kind of torque, you'd blow the wheels off. Also there are the homosexual aspects.
>>
>>37465764
This too yes. The car wouldn't work properly at all. You'd have to remove the hood completely and your front end. The engine is just too big to fit even remotely well.
>>
>>37465724
>Replacing an engine and cramping a V10 in there is both impossible
Hard, not impossible. Some Japanese guy put a v12 in a bmw E30, which has similar dimensions to a miata. People also put rb26's in Miatas, whatever that means (I'm not really a car guy) so it should be doable. I could buy a very short V10 and put it in a miata, no sweat.
>>
>>37465797
But how did it feel having a man grab the back of your head and come down your throat?
>>
here's the e30
>>
>>37465797
This is because BMW made their own V12 engine already in the E60. It made it easier to put that engine in an E30. Mazda Miata aren't build for a V10 or v12 at all. The car couldn't handle the torque and the weight. The V10 would be too high in dimension to be able to fit under a miata's hood. A v12 differs quite a bit from a V10 as well..
>>
>>37465744
>>37465764
>>37465778

and here's a V12 Miata.

I might actually have to change my goal to putting a V14 in there.

>>
>>37465850
Dude. Did you see the video of the V12? You would need to cut the firewall by so much the car wouldn't work properly. Also the tyres are fucked with any acceleration on that thing.
>>
>>37465420
Ok you're retarded...
>>
>>37465874
>You would need to cut the firewall by so much the car wouldn't work properly
I could figure it out. Not hard
>Also the tyres are fucked with any acceleration on that thing.
Even if that were true, I could still tow the car around and have it look cool
>>
>>37465897
So you're gonna get a V10 engine. Ruin the whole cars original bodywork and ruin the wieght distribution, spend an insane amount of money on it just to show off to people who don't even care?

More cylinders = faster car = more respect = more connections = more fame, one thing leads to another and it's all related.

I really don't believe you are 21, no self respecting adult thinks this way.
You have the mindset of a child, a fast car isn't going to make your life great or better. And more cylinders doesn't equal faster car. The Nissan GTR only has a v6 and goes faster than pretty much any car on the track and on the road.

Highly doubt it. Also more cylinders, again, does not equal more power.

Why are you making up shit? Worker control over the means of production means less market regulation, not more. These market regulations you're talking about are bandages to either prop the system up (AHA) or to keep people from literally being worked to death (social security).

No one except some car fans would care about it, they would think its just another ricer. Its a interesting project, but if you want car for attention just buy muscle car or BMW.
>>
>>37466281
>Worker control over the means of production means less market regulation
Except the fact that workers know nothing of running a business and allocating the resources effeciently. Hayek already wrote about this in the 40's and refuted the idea of workers control over production.
I'm not talking about market regulations but I agree there should be some. Classical economics didn't account for externalities or internalities that much as Keynes did. But economics is more than just production what workers do.
