Transexualism stems from the altered brain structures and gender dysphoria stems from transsexualism.
You can treat the dysphoria for the most part with transition but its not a cure and you still have the underlying mental disorder that is the root cause.

A good way to view it is like clinical depression caused by a faulty brain. The depression can be treated with pills but not cured and it will most likely produce anxiety as a result of the depression itself. You can cure the anxiety with proper treatment but the depression is permanent.
