Well, their entire ideology is based on alleviating the differences among the Muslim world (Shia vs Sunni etc) in order to liberate the Islamic world from Western colonialism and Western political-economic domination.

Of course, the implications of this in the real world are secular imo, in the sense that this motivation seems to come because of a religious, specifically Islamic (specifically Shia Islam since Shias emphasize Hussein more than do Sunnis) worldview but is more of a secular, rather than strictly theological, motivation. The secular political goal of liberating the Islamic world from foreign colonialist interests (USA, the British, the Zionists etc) is moreso supported by, rather than dependent on the Islamic theology.

In a sense, the Islamic revolutionary ideology of Iran can be described as a form of Islamic socialism or Islamic Marxism. (Note how the Marxist-Leninist dialectic of capitalist vs. working class becomes the oppressor vs. oppressed in the Islamic revolutionary dialectic).

If the majority of Iran had been Christian or Jewish or Hindu or atheist, rather than Muslim, and the same material conditions (poverty etc) and same historical and current effect of foreign domination were at work (Western colonialism, where the West has much greater amount of economic, political and military leverage), you would probably end up seeing a Christian (or Jewish or atheist or Hindu etc.) revolutionary/socialist ideology rather than an Islamic one, because the same material factors would be at play, only difference would be the major religious (or lack thereof) orientation of the population in question.

"Faith" in a religious sense doesn't play that much of role in my action and worldview desu.

I don't strictly or even moderately follow the rites of any particular religion.

Although I was brought up in a Catholic family, if that matters.

I'm pretty secular. Basically a materialist, by which I mean that I treat and interact with the world as if everything that happens can be explained due to material factors based on the physical world (materialist does NOT mean that I worship money or accumulating as much wealth as possible through any means necessary, no matter how immoral, which is another commonly used definition of the word "materialist").

For example, some people base the positive way that they strive to treat their partners on the concept of "romantic love" or "soul mates" or some such idealist-like concepts. Whereas I treat my partners in a positive way based on a materialist understanding of my partners as a source for good company, stress belief and potential security in old age (if the relationship is that durable and I live that long and my partner also lives that long). Different basis/motivation for action, largely same effect at the end of the day.

I'm probably not a hard atheist though, in that I don't discount the possibility of a God, but perceive that there probably is not enough hard evidence (and there may not ever be) to conclusively prove whether or not a God or deity exists. (How one would even go about testing the existence of an all-encompassing being, I'm not even sure).

I have had some strong experiences on certain hallucinogenic plants which I can call "spiritual" in terms of their positive, therapeutic effects on my psyche and sense of confidence and purpose in life, however.

The West (by which I means its political-economic elites) fully supports the Zionist genocide of Palestine.
