I have done all of that, I spent years not worrying about a companion and focusing on my own interests. I've helped people, and made things better for others.

I kept having dreams of touching and talking to one woman that I really like. It's normal to want companionship. It hurts being alone for so long.

But OP, having children is the only way to ensure your impact on human history.

You can make as much art as you want and be forgotten, but if you raise a family, you can guarantee directly or indirectly, your place in the history of humanity.

It's not even like I'm terrible. I'm just untalented. I can draw, play instruments and write better than the average person, but I'm nowhere near anyone actually good at drawing, music or literature.

If it was just a trying thing, everyone with enough force of will would be Picasso, John Lennon or Mark Twain. Some of us just suck regardless of passion.

Alan Turing was gay, didn't have children, but he helped end a major war and save millions of lives. He's probably responsible for more children being born than the majority of hetero couples.

As far as art goes (from my experience and those around me) half of it is talent, but the other half is hard work. Some people who aren't artists just assume "oh, wow anon... you're so talented." Yeah, talent is part of the equation, but I'd still be making the same shitty quality garbage I made 10 years ago if I hadn't put in the work to make myself better... practice my ass off, go to life drawing classes, keep hammering in my sketchbook, to put in the time learning how the masters did it, etc. You've gotta want it, but some people just don't have the "creative gene" for lack of a better term.

I still try but it's just a past time. It doesn't make my life better nor it'll make a difference in the world, just makes time goes faster.

What would make a difference would be making children. And that'd make my life much better than writing shitty songs no one will ever listen to.

That's a pretty bad and selfish way of thinking. People who do that are happy at first and then when they realize it's difficult to raise children they start to resent them for putting a strain on their life.

You should have children because you're ready for the struggle to get them to be good people who contribute to society, not to make yourself feel better.
