I want to buy a ps4 for persona 5 but that damn thing is sold out everywhere.

I remember when N64/PS1 came out. After playing NES/SNES for some years before that, my mind was truly blown.

That never happens now. Not sure if it's because I'm 30 or if it's because vidya game technology is just stalled.

It's a bad business decision. They will lose a lot of money by not supporting PS4 more loyally. They felt forced to release a new console because of the release of the competitor Nintendo Switch, but Sony should not have felt threatened by this ShitMachine.

After graphics get to a certain level of realism it's hard to improve them. In the old days you could improve graphics quickly by simply adding more polygon count, but nowadays we have models with hundreds of polygons and high resolution textures, there's really nowhere to go past that.

How many games that came on N64 had SNES graphics? Maybe 2 or 3 titles, the rest all had N64 graphics.

Now games come out on PC in 2017 and a lot of games don't even come close graphics wise to games from 2010. That makes no sense.

Because it would cost multi millions of dollars to develop something better. Why do that when the game development already costs multi multi millions of dollars and realistic graphics have become ubiquitous? It's easy to have realistic looking graphics these days, and why push for something hyper realistic when simply realistic looks "good enough."

Anyone who thinks that Sony will release a whole new home console (not qualifying PS4 Pro as the new console) before 2022 at least is fucking retarded.

The thing that people don't understand is that to have those big ass games with gorgeous graphics and a shit ton of other things costs bank. GTA V taking development and marketing into account cost over $200 million to make, and even a game like CoD takes millions upon millions to make. That shit gets expensive now, imagine upping the ante even more. That's why things are lagging in terms of graphics, because there's no good reason and tons of risk to actually try to make them better.

To be fair consoles are cheap as fuck for their specs. The PS4 released 3 years ago and its GPU is in between the HD 7850 and HD 7870. The $100 RX 460 is still only around that level and it'd only leave you $300 for the rest of the PC which pretty much leaves the Pentium G4560 as your only CPU option.
