But it's shrinking rapidly with no end in sight

The metal scene is still going on strong, the problem here is that you go to places where you see the bands. The Haunted, Animals as Leaders, Alluvial, Conquering Dystopia, Veil of Maya, Meshuggah, After the Burial and other bands are on the modern scene, go to places on youtube or IRL where you can enjoy metal music

all of the edgy tweens that listened to metal grew up or didn't have kids to pass it on to because they didnt grow out of it
