I don't know where you got the idea that intelligence on its own is as alienating as you make it out to be, but I sympathize. In my case, I think it was largely my being told that it was by my dad. I don't think such a mindset is healthy or even accurately reflects reality. The truth is that people in general have more in common than they do dividing them. I used to have a lot of motivation and drive, but I still managed to mess up. I've had 3-4 jobs, and I've tried getting an education equally many times. I think I understand what you're saying. My autism is rather similar, particularly for objects moving in my peripheral vision. Sensory overload is a bitch, and being in an environment with trigger sounds really does feel outright hostile and unsafe.

I'm not sure what to say about understanding people, particularly where things like subtlety and body language are concerned, except to advocate for complete sincerity. Granted, there's still the issue of developing your capacity for self-expression, but I find that we spergs don't do as well by mimicking other people as we do by just being our best selves and then being as literal and sincere as possible. Objectivity is essentially imaginary, it'd be pointless for me to try and state anything objectively, in this situation..
