Discord is a new service, old people are stuck in old services (forums, 4chan, etc).
I know its good, but I haven't any connections there, I don't know the culture, I dislike the immediacy of fast text messaging with short SMS.

30 here, see the discord threads all the time and went to see what it was, found out it was voice chat or something. Maybe related to playing online games so you can talk while you play. I just like text. E-mail is all I do now with all the forums I used to go to dying off. I also used AOL IM and then MSN Messenger years ago.

In fast chat, its a bit intense, you can't do it in the background on your second monitor while doing something else.
Also in a chat service with accounts you can't just walk away from a conversation you find dull or stupid, people get offender, they remember you and bring it up in a completely unrelated talk on the next day. They hold a grudge.

I like the slow communication of forums, with more deliberate and longer posts, and I like the anonymity of 4chan. Discord has neither.
