Like the anon above said, The Babadook was a good one. I also thought The Taking of Deborah Logan was pretty good. And I remember one called Crazy Eights that spooked me good but it could have been because I was all hyped up on painkillers after a surgery and I can't remember much about it now.

I didn't like it that much at first, but you've got to watch it while wearing headphones on reasonably loud volume.

It'll give the entire movie a whole new dimension.

Seriously, try it.

Also the new Blair Witch one is pretty good too (although it doesn't even compare to the first one). The first 30 minutes or so will seem awfully cringy and you'll hate the characters. But after that some new characters are introduced that are good and make the movie worthwhile.

I didn't find this movie to be scary at all, but I will say it's one of the best vampire flicks I've ever seen, behind LTROI and Lost Boys. Even though it's Korean, it stays true to most of the classic Vampire lore. It's an incredible film, honestly. South Korea in general puts out some truly fantastic thriller/horror movies.


Too bad you don't like found footage movies, because I would have suggested [REC] and [REC] 2.

But you want scary, so I'll give you a few.

- A Tale of Two Sisters. A movie about two sisters who move in with their aunt in a weird house after their mother's death. Pretty unsettling and mind-fuckey.

- R-Point. About this rescue squad in Vietnam who are sent to locate a missing team. This one is long, but actually pretty fucking creepy. You can find torrents of it.

- Angst. Serial killer movie. Very realistic and disturbing.

- Possession. About this woman who suddenly wants to divorce her husband for no reason and slowly loses her mind. Creepy lovecraftian horror shit.

- Session 9. Kind of a meme movie, but it's pretty unsettling either way.

These are all foreign btw. If you want more, I'll give you more, but these are the go-to. And obviously if you haven't seen Alien, Shining, or The Thing yet, you should be watching those before anything else.
