I stopped brushing my teeth consistently two years ago in a fit of NEETdom and horrible depression and I never started again because I remained a NEET and I think it's finally starting to catch up with me. What do? Should I start brushing again? Will it even make a difference?

Yes, absolutely. I stopped brushing from about 12-14 and it ruined my teeth, because all I ate was sugary foods and cola. You need to start brushing and flossing immediately, because it will do you a world of good, and prevent further decay. Go see a dentist straight away.

They're not brown or rotting or anything I just notice some white spots and I get some pain if I eat (a lot) of sugary food all at once.
You should see a dentist, you dumbo.

I don't think I'd be able to deal with it, dentists are always super judgmental pricks who criticize your dental hygiene habits even if you brush and floss regularly, if I went to see a dentist at this point he'd probably cause me to break down and cry...I largely stopped brushing my teeth because at one point I was 100% convinced I was going to kill myself but I never found the courage to do it.

Don't worry about it. I thought the same thing, and my dentist is great. He's a 25 year old guy who talks to me about manga.

You're fucked. Start brushing again ASAP, expect to be spitting blood the first month. Don't brush too hard and too much. Use a medium or soft brush.
Go to a dentist. Your teeth are more than likely fucked up.

Yeah, same here, I had one tooth that was totally abscessed because the filling had popped out and I just ignored it like. I also still had my wisdom teeth that were also rotting.
I had all 5 removed. I still have a bunch of cavities in my mouth, some pretty bad gumline ones and two in the back of my front teeth that does like dark spot through the front of them. I also have no enamel left whatsoever.

They really don't. If people had perfect teeth all the time then they would be penniless.
Protip: once the tooth feels like something, pain, anything, youre fucked and you need a root canal and with no coverage its like 2 grand. For one tooth.
I was lucky to get away with just a mouth full of fillings
