I see what your saying and I guess this is my reply: if you really aren't in the position where you would want a friend, then sure you can leave her the day after and there will be no real consequence.
With that said, making someone your friend doesn't have to be a big commitment if you don't want it to be. You could literally just stay loosely in touch and that would be all that is needed.
Say one day you felt bored and you wanted to go to a hike, you could invite her and suddenly the hike got better just because you had her phone number on hand. If she doesn't go, you don't care because its not like you were investing in the friendship at all.

I can't remember much of the article now but I remember distinctly that people who have been through tough life experiences and come out of them tend to be less empathetic towards people that are experiencing the same hardships. I mean, this pretty much says over time, accumulated hardships can essentially turn people into cynics.

It made me realise, most people aren't born assholes. Things happened to them in their lives and make them cold and angry. r9k is simply a congregation of these people that have suffered, been looked down upon and bullied their entire lives and you coming here telling them they need to be nicer is kind of presumptuous, as if this common sense has escaped their heads. You really think you can solve their problems by such a generalised statement?

It's only after they've tried to be nice; to put faith in humanity (especially females) only to be met with disappointment again and again, that they finally snap. Rejecting society, rejecting normie culture, rejecting the notion that 'being nice' actually counts for shit, so they can finally stop being society's punching bag.
