>Do they really help autism or ADHD?
>Winnipeg psychologist Kirsten Wirth says there isn't enough evidence that the toys actually help kids focus.
>"There's a difference between what we call anecdotal evidence and what the research actually shows," Wirth said. "Because there might be a bit of a placebo effect happening where we feel like something is helping, but it may or may not actually be helping."
>To be most effective, Crosbie says, fidget toys should be selected to suit the attributes of the individual child, in discussion with parents, teachers and other experts, as in Peterson's case.
>"I actually hold fidget toys up as ... a really good example of how not all accommodations and recommendations work equally for individuals," Crosbie says. "For some kids it can be really helpful. But for an equal number of kids it ends up being a bit of a distraction and doesn't actually help in the way we hope it does."
Maybe. This is kind of beside the point since nearly everyone buying them are neurotypicals hopping on a trend anyway.

we have them at the arcade I work at as a prize you can win with tickets, you can probably get one at a hobby store I'm pretty sure thats where we buy ours from.

I don't know if it really helps everyone, but it helps me focus more during lectures or when I'm watching something.
>>36906333
Autist here.
I understand their purpose. They're to help you fidget in a way that doesn't piss people off so you don't go full retard and start screaming/punching walls.
>>36905880
You can make them on your own for about $10 if you can find some ball bearing rollers and zip ties. There's a video somewhere, lemme try and find it.

It's not the one I was looking for but it'll get the idea across.
So what, we just spin it while doing things like watching TV? Listening to a teacher? Studying ?
>>36906670
Yep. The neurotypicalfags use it as a fad thing like Silly Bandz (remember those) but theoretically they could be really useful for helping people concentrate.
how about we improve Fidget Cubes instead of Glorifying spinners? The spinners are too distracting and require skill. They also hurt to flick. Meanwhile Cubes are quiet and aren't distracting. People won't even realize you're using a cube .
>>36906793
Okay so what if we make the cubes spin
It's the most fucking annoying thing I've seen lately, it's like hearing mosquitoes buzzing near your eae
