For me the term waifu is reserved for a more abstract, platonic kind of interaction with the subconscious self in a process of psychoanalytic self-exploration.

A fictitious character does not require physical words and actions to interact with. That would be like engaging in organised religion to try and get closer to a theistic deity.

I didn't really want to use the term waifu for this since people might disagree, I just prefer to say "infatuation", but in my mind they are the same: the Jungian Helena, Mary and Sophia in one template.

I almost fell for Ougi, actually. I haven't watched a lot of Owarimonogatari yet though, so my feelings haven't been finalised with regards to her.

I like Yotsugi a lot, but she seems more of a secondary character in terms of general appeal.
Kanbaru is to monogatari what Shizune is to Katawa Shoujo. Overall a well-written, balanced, positive character, but not much going on in terms of appeal apart from "muh yuri".
Shinobu ranking below Kanbaru is a joke.
Nadeko ranking above the sisters and Hachikuji is also an absolute joke.

Not a fan of Madoka Magica, but I can empathise with your choice of Emi and Misaki.

Emi was probably the object of my greatest affection in KS. (The kiss on the rooftop really did it).
Didn't really feel much for Hanako's route. Perhaps it was because I played it last and was already emotionally drained after the other 4. Or maybe because her and Lily's routes felt kind of forced to me with lots of stereotypical melodrama.

Misaki I really should have included in the OP. I'm not sure why I didn't, maybe because I view her more as an element of a philosophical statement rather than infatuation material, even though I did experience infatuation there for a while too, although not as vividly in my memory as the other girls.

Kuroneko I really liked as well when watching Oreimo, but I didn't like Oreimo at all in general, so that never really went anywhere.

Ai, of course, is a treasure.

I almost forgot about Misaki while I was making the chart. I guess it's because there aren't many art of her outside of the source material. And for some reason, I didn't feel much after watching the anime but upon reading the NHK manga, I fell hard for Misaki. The way she's portrayed in it shows a lot more of her personality. She's more fun and caring but at the same time lonely and broken. The artist drew her wearing different outfits that made her even more charming.

As for Emi, I felt the same. I love her the most in Katawa Shoujo. Every time I'm out running, I always think of her when pushing those last laps. I wish there were more art of her.
