There's generally two over arching philosophies about public education

> to turn kids into workers

>to turn kids into social reformists

Both are beneficial to everybody, but it doesn't always turn out this way. Public education (specifically in America, it's alright in some/very few countries) is in rapid decline. My own theory into this is that people just don't care as much anymore. Administrators don't care, teachers don't care, students don't care, and parents don't care. Why should we care when jobs are requiring 4+ years of experience or a bachelor's degree for entry level positions? Why should we care when kids are going to throw away their lives and never amount to anything? Why should we care when they're just gonna follow the status quo? Why should we care when we're all barely scraping by and have enough of our own problems?

I want to change education, but I'm just one person. The system is too big for me and no one cares.
