Is anyone here an EMT?
I'm thinking about doing the one semester course and just becoming that. Is it any good or should I stick with my original plan of being a cop in hopes of becoming SWAT.
watched drive again last night it was pretty comfy.
I have family who are EMT, they always complain about being understaffed and long hours, SWAT sounds better long term if you get though the police course.

If you wanna go to healthcare, do anything else but being an EMT. Have tons of horror stories about it. Long hours, low pay with people's lives on the line, etc. Might as well go to nursing and become an RN
It's great if you like being treated like a bitch and getting paid fuck all for busting your ass for hours on end

>low pay
In my state starting pay for EMT's is $13.37 an hour which is a fuckton more than what I'm being paid at cucklix

I'm a Merchandiser and I make $15.00+mileage for stocking products while a friend makes $11.75 for literally trying to save lives. IDK why it's so low, but it's pretty messed up. I also considered it for a time, then the realities of life set in

>mfw I've been hording those free sub coupons they give you when a customer complements your service

Not to mention dealing with the stress of being responsible for another person's life while being lied to about a patients history by medical """professionals""" so they can get those sweet sweet insurance shekels

Shieeeet. What's a better medical job that I can get in with more or less the same amount of work I would have to put in to become an EMT

Quality of service. you know what I mean.

Sunshine state masterrace

I just now realized I said complement instead of compliment. Why the fuck are those two words only a letter apart from each other?

Isn't an EMT a one year course? I'd say CNA, which you can become an RN after another year of schooling, or most technician jobs, like radiology tech or anesthesiology tech

>CNA
Oh boii, can't wait to clean out bedpans. I guess I can do that while going to school to be an RN

>treated like a bitch
EMT's get treated like a bitch? wtf I hate america now
Ay, paramed student here also doing work as essentially an emt-b. You americans seem to get the raw end of the stick when it comes to emergency health. My starting is upwards of 70k a year when I graduate.
That being said, fucking go for it if you think you can handle it. It's really cool and you see a lot of shit. Since starting my confidence has gone through the fucking roof. If you can deal with walking into a resus situation and calmly work on somebody dying in front of you, you can deal with literally anything. Chicks love that shit too, like a more respected and humanitarian, less asshole cop. Just be prepared to face some hardcore stuff early on that might break you. If it does, tough shit, if it doesn't, you'll be good for life.

Something about working in healthcare makes people really uppity and generally rude, especially anyone considered lower than them. I saw this a lot with RNs and firefighters, many are just straight up assholes. For some reason ER doctors are almost always bro as fuck though
