Romance anime is the worst garbage, especially the contemporary takes like Toradora and whatnot with its massively exaggerated emotions, trying to force impact into the viewer. Oldie and more subtle stuff like Maison Ikkoku is at least a little more like the real thing, but all of it is shit and should be avoided really.
Watch other genres my friend, solitary anime is soothing.

Romance is sort of comfy. The one I was watching was Tsuki ga Kirei. 4 episodes out, so far it's a bit generic as in the MC is extremely shy, but it's enjoyable, and atleast he was a bit assertive.
