If i recall correctly, in japanese you can read "Youth" as "blue spring", so the name of the series uses that as some kind of wordplay.

it's more complicated than that as it's written in katakana (and thus explicable ao haru raido), but when you put the kanji for blue and spring together you get seishun, which means youth, adolescence, etc. but then youth and teenagehood has always been associated with spring in japan so it's not like it's some kinda puzzle or deeper meaning. just not obvious to non-speakers.

it's interesting, as languages seem to only develop words for different colors as they are needed. today we have millions if not billions of colors (thus the current hexadecimal system) but the ancients didn't. Homer, for example, never refers to the color of the sky and the sea is called "[red] like wine." there's the anecdotal story of some British scientist who avoided teaching his daughter blue for the longest time, like he would take blue stuff out of their house and not let her watch educational stuff that included colors until she was like 3 or something. then he took her outside one day and asked what color the sky was. she said white.
