Don't listen to the doubters. I was no good in high school and graduated nearly at the bottom. Went to community college for the last two years and came out with a 3.5 GPA. Now I'm in engineering school and I finished calculus 2 with like a B only because I never did homework. Once you get past the maths and sciences bullshit and your in your major courses the last year, you can really enjoy it and it won't be sad hard because you've already built this passion inside you. I'm glad you decided to switch out of that useless bullshit major, and don't take it too hard from your parents, they probably view you in a different light that you can't understand because you're young. I'm 20 years old as well so I can relate to you, my family is trying to kick me out right now even though I work full time at a CVS pharmacy and I'm in engineering school full time at the same time. Canadian, am joining the reserves this summer. They give you $2000 per year (at the end of the year of service) with no commitment (no required service to pay it off). There are more opportunities to get another $1000 or so at the battalion level I'm told. So potentially up to 3/8 of my tuition because the cost for one year (tuition, books, etc.) is about $8000 CAD. They do have a program where they completely pay for everything and you make up for with service but I don't really know why they just basically give away $2000. I'm told its because the army really wants educated soldiers (even if they don't become officers) so it was primarily meant for NCM's to take complimentary courses to help their career without getting a full degree in something.

Its ok though, if I don't decide to have a career with the military after I graduate, there are always jobs as any kind of engineer where I live in Alberta. Because the whole economy revolves around oil and gas production and every kind of engineer is directly involved in that, its basically a free job. It has been that way for a long time and will continue being that way. Its all the meme science degrees that are getting sacked.
