I remember that shit. Having to knock on doors. Showing up. People drinking with computers all in one room and you had to use the corded phone on the wall. Funny times.
>>
Bit crappy but, miss the days of meeting up to game. Had game shop with dozen or so pc and all consoles. Everyone hang out there and game all night. Sucks it's gone.
>>
quake half life later cs 1.6 also i remember there is a beta version of cs that you have the exactly same movement of quake. Really fun times with that fast gameplay.
>>

I know that 99% of everyone here is 20 years old so the early 2000s was MUH CHILDHOOD.

I was in my teens/early 20s by that time.

Still, I gotta give it a 9/10.

Being a robot in the 90s was awful, but by the late 90s & early 2000s it was great. Just slap on a Marilyn Manson t-shirt and go to the warped tour and soon enough you've found yourself a fat punk rock practice gf.

I love how there was mainstream alternative cultures back then.

I also love how the western world was far less politically charged. That includes both the alt-right MGTOW pepes and the SJW femihitlers.

Unlike everyone here though, I think modern-day smartphones are great, fuck you.

>I remember that shit. Having to knock on doors. Showing up. People drinking with computers all in one room and you had to use the corded phone on the wall. Funny times.

All you did was describe the picture and throw in the word "corded phone".
Such a simple descripton goes to show how little you know, stop larping you 14 year old faggot

it was great. the normies didn't discover the internet yet so it was full of people like me. when the whole social media garbage started it was over
>>

>I also love how the western world was far less politically charged
That's the dumbest fucking thing I've heard all day
>>
>>36772324
Look at your own post buddy.

Sure there was 9/11 and the Iraq war - but those were actual things. Actual wars that went above any identity bullshit.

You didn't have Black Lives Matter, Breitbart didn't exist, Alex Jones was just another no-name radio muppet, trannies didn't start toilet wars, there were no faggots with anime avatars on twitter who took part in things like "the triggering", etc.
>>
>>36772257
Agreed with everything except the smartphones. Those are one of the worst inventions ever.

>haven't had a gf since then

>everyone is rude and uncaring

Just fuck it all senpai
>>
>>36772474
Pretty much yeah. If politics was ever brought up. normies would be like "IDK I don't get it really its kinda boring" I mean they had Iraq War opinions, sure, but thats it.

But they for sure didn't feel the need to constantly display their political allegiance everywhere and just constantly yell about their political opinions and consider anyone with a different political side to them as like the devil and you must never be friends with them.

You could legit just be like "Oh who you voting for this election? Alright, cool." and that was that.

Social Media really fucked us up, it made everyone feel like their opinion is the right one and it matters and they must tell everyone.
>>
>>36772539
normies use it for socializing but for me they are great for hand held retro game console.

i spend whole my early pre/teenage in front of computer i browsed countless websites in my home alone it was so amazing to me. even when i dumbass kid

personal rate 7/10
>>
>>36772539
Why is that?

hard mode: can't use the "because people use it to ignore me" meme, people in the 90s would ignore robots right to their faces without having to pretend to look busy
>>
>>36772586
>Social Media really fucked us up

The internet in general. I mean yeah Social media in the last 10 years really blew it up but even before then the internet was serving as a soapbox platform to anyone who wanted to hear about they're right and everyone else is wrong. You could still download the Anarchist Cookbook or join a White Power website or whatever.

The comedian Bill Burr has a great bit about how it's like back in the day there would be one crazy angry guy who walks into a grocery store and starts yelling all sorts of shit, of course mostly everyone just feels akward and wants him to leave, but then one guy who works behind the dairy fridge pokes his head from the double swinging doors and is like "hhmmmm you know what this guy makes a lot of sense!" and now there's two of them.

That's the internet times like 3 billion.
>>
>>36772635
Smartphones ushered in a new era of narcissism, made women even more insane and eternally normalfagged the Internet, ensuring it would forever be molded with real life (social networks also helped make this happen, but smartphones really cemented it).
>>
>>36772257
I don't think you're very robotic if you enjoyed, thrived in, and miss large social events like concerts. You might be more of a cyborg at best. I think anything except very small, intimate gatherings are awful.
>>
>>36772833
>if you enjoyed, thrived in, and miss large social events like concerts. You might be more of a cyborg at best. I think anything except very small, intimate gatherings are awful.

Just the opposite. I loved how I could get lost in a crowd. I would go to metal and punk shows just by myself and be just another faceless retard bouncing around the moshpit. No one judging me or staring at me, everyone was mostly there to look at the bands.

Small intimate gatherings are worse imo, because then any spilled spaghetti is immediately noticed and you're expected to be a part of the conversations and all that.

But yeah I am more cyborg than robot.
>>
>>36772759
Yeah but unless you're constantly hanging out on facebook or twitter or the youtube comments for a Justin Bieber video, that's not really a big deal. Normies have their own containment sites.

Love these threads

Well I was born in 1993, but I like to think that my era of middle schoolers had a pretty god-tier experience. WoW released, pretty much the advent of some big online gaming, and a lot of really fucking good music. If you like electronic music, there are just a lot of great records from the early 2000s. Cameras on phones were a novelty instead of a lifestyle.

The hyper-normiesphere started really accelerating in the 2010s though.

I'm 32 years old.

I don't want to fucking wait 4 hours to download a fake mp3 off of kazaa

let me download an entire discography in a couple of minutes at most.

Playing homm3 and war3 on LAN was the shit, man. Cheap beer, no AC in sweltering rooms, and long nights spent talking about all kinds of things... damn, rad times. The only better time of my life was probably early vanilla wow when I still had 3 pals to play with. Bringing your PCs to one room and playing with IRL senpaitachi for 20 hours straight had some magic to it that no other MP form will ever surpass.
>>
>>36771984
i loved the 2000s :( I wish I could go back but I have to accept reality

Meeting up to game, and oh my god I just love Quake 3... I remember there was a lan-cafe thing where we could all sit and use the internet and my friends and I put quake 3 on all the PCs... fun times... actually being in the room with them... god I'm gonna cry, my life wasn't a shithole back then, i was a cyborg

>The hyper-normiesphere started really accelerating in the 2010s though.

QFT. Paris Hilton was just the beginning. Now it's not just the Kardashians but the legions of instagram whores with the fake lips and eyebrows ready to take a million pictures of themselves making "i don't care faces"

Hey, me too; born the year Minnesota voted to make Walter Mondale the leader of the Free World.
I don't disagree with you that the rhetoric has gotten more obnoxious, but this is a game that has been playing out for generations. Millenia, in some respects.
Societal hysteria is almost a certainty in times of global power restructuring, if we believe history. This is just the same page of a heavily derivative but different playbook.
>>
1990s: Comfy/10

>17

exactly.

You can't expect a teenager to have an objective outlook on the socio-cultural barometer of a decade. Especially when the mid-late 2000s are barely any different than the 2010s and even now the mid-late 2010s. It's just more of the same. Youtube, facebook, twitter, etc.

>>36774303
thanks senpai.

>>36774302
Not him, but I can also cherry-pick a handful of bad games from the last decades. ET for Atari, Bubsy 3d, Superman 64, Zelda wand of Gamelon, etc.
>>
I hate current decade but I do love how fast and convenient the way certain things are transferred over the internet compared to how it was in the late 90s and early 00s.
