The first thing you should do is establish you're not a threat to yourself or others. Easiest way is to make it smooth like part of the greeting. went for several years, don't really remember much of it, but they really, really wanted to look them in the eyes, and it took years for me to bother, and i stopped doing that to everyone else right after. none of my issues with anger or self esteem were ever addressed. i had good insurance at the time (presumably) and wasn't going to be doing anything else worthwhile, but considering the heinous rates they bill it, it was a massive waste of money and time. also, every female one was immensely condescending and i eventually wanted to either be violent (occasionally sexually) after merely a handful of visits.

It's all about presentation. If you really feel like your woman hating mentality is bad for you and needs to be addressed, mention it. However, it is important to acknowledge that it is wrong and that you are sick/damaged for thinking so. They will likely be happy to set you on the right track

If you actually want help to overcome your mental issues, write down these thoughts in advance. You'll be able to much better communicate your ideas when you have time to collect them alone instead of just going blank in front of a psych who you'll instinctively view as an outsider and not to be trusted.

Money is money OP, and be it a man or a woman, they'll want it from you the same way. Also, they're under some really strict rules of confidentiality, so I don't see why, on this occasion, you shouldn't trust a woman psychiatrist, but hey, you're the one who makes the decision

That depends on how intense these thoughts of suicide are. If the doc senses his patient will try to take his life any day of the week, then yeah, there is a chance he will have to send him to a ward. Otherwise, if these thoughts are common, but not immediately life threatening, the doctor won't.

I think it's funny how people on here are afraid of therapy.

You know that crazy, methed up homeless guy who screams at passing cars? Or the guy who was caught fucking some farmers cow? Or the thug with a third grade education who beat an old lady with a wrench?

Those guys are hard to deal with. You are just lonely sad sacks. Therapists like you and genuinely want to help you.

Remember that it's okay to be honest about how awful you are. They know there's something wrong with you, you wouldn't be there if there wasn't.
