Probably because of how the question is phrased. "out of 0, how hot is she?" If you give a 5, you could also say she is only 50% perfect physically speaking. Not very flattering sounding.
Also, men are programmed to stick it into as many women as possible to maximize reproductive success. Because of this, standards are lower than they should be

It's because the 1-10 system is literally never used properly. This means if you actually true to use it properly people will misunderstand and, in this case, get mad.

Because there are no objective numbers. And people don't use the system correctly. The scale should be used to indicate how attractive you find someone, not adding up their features and giving a score.
