That's actually a really common misconception. Shampoo is just for cleaning the scalp and is actually very harsh and dries out the hair and scalp. Especially the cheaper brands. Conditioner is for essentially repairing and/or masking the damage that shampoo does. It's better for your hair to not use shampoo at all but there is a transitory period where it can get greasier than normal that most people don't make it through

Mine was the opposite. I started using counter-dandruff shampoo and stopped using conditioner.

Shampoo 1-2x a week, no conditioner at all.

I've always thought conditioner just makes your hair keep a certain shape......

Not unless I'm applying it wrong. How are you supposed to apply it anyways. Rub it in your hands, slap it on your head, scratch scalp?, rub in hair?, leave in for a few minutes?, rinse?, repeat?

also , when i stopped using it and went back to regular shampoo , fora while a i was dandruff free, but once i started using hairdryer during winter i got it back. im not sure if its linked , but could be the heat from the hairdryer damging the scalp causing dandruff

I tried cheap and expensive shampoos, it didn't do much for me. Some were for dandruf and some weren't.

let me clear this up for you guys. Not all scalps are the same. Some are too greasy so they need anti-dandruff shampoo. Other scalps are too dry so they need conditioner.

Use lemon juice. The PH on your scalp is outta wack so use some lemon juice to get it on track. Fun fact, your body has something called an acid mantle which is the first line of defense against pathogens.

shea butter helps if the scalp gets bad. lemon juice like an earlier poster suggested isn't a bad idea either, the dr. bronners conditioner works well and contains that
