Half your life points means you can literally always activate it, even if you 25 life points.

One of my favorite trap cards. Half your life points is a hefty cost, but if it is going to stop a critically important card that could turn the tables in your opponents favour, it's a small price to pay, since there is a good chance you're going to wind up winning anyway.

You can build your own Ra deck just fine. Sphere is basically a better version of Lava Golem.
