He's an unfunny hack pretending that preaching conventional nonsense to a conservative choir is brave and rebellious. The one and only time he dared say something that was actually not PC trash he lost his book deal, was fired from his job and is still trying to recover what's left of his reputation.

At least he showcased that the conservative self-image is precisely upside down. Bragging about being controversial while peddling mainstream views to an audience that agrees with them, then immediately abandoned when he makes a single actually controversial argument. Because his totalizing audience were never fans of controversy, which they in fact despise, but of the rhetorical usefulness of pretending that their views are hard truths and they are virtuous enough to tell it like it in spite of disaproval.
