Mine was an Apple computer when I was 10, though I'm not sure which specific iteration. I was really mesmerized by the Sierra adventure games, namely The Black Cauldron and King's Quest 4.

Fast forwarding a few years, I think the first internet meme I came across was Hamster Dance in sixth grade. The first one I really enjoyed and found hilarious was All Your Base in 2001.

>>36589607
I'm just trolling, I don't think anyone except celebrities get two or more Friend Requests every day. I've had a Facebook since 2008 and around 60 friends, most of them family and online friends.

Remember that Angry German kid video who was freaking out about losing in Unreal Tournament (good god -- young'ns probably don't even know that game)?

That's one example of how when you wanted to find a meme video (back on YTMND -- memes were originally called "fads"), you had to look for a web-site, download the actual video itself, and pray to god it wasn't full of spyware (good god -- kids probably don't even remember spyware). Dark times, dude.

Other things kids probably don't remember:

>online lag from playing on dial-up
>the 56k modem sound
>when even shitty video cards would cost $2000
>deus ex 1 playing like shit on even the best computers at the time
>myspace being controversial
>geocities
>when macromedia was still a thing
>snakes on a plane

Red was actually my first pokemon game, in a family of 7 the game boy was passed down as they got PC's and xboxes. It had many games like the shrek and ants game. Those were the worst things I've ever played, at the time retailed for $20 each. I wasted my parents money, ended up losing both. It was back in 2008, I lost the gameboy while moving 5 years a go, I'm 16 with no gameboy.

If you were to do a survey...

In college:
>They'd say music from the late 90s is really cheesy old music
>They'd say music from the early 2000s brings back childhood nostalgia
>They wouldn't be able to remember a web 1.0 internet and would be astonished at how slow t he speeds were

>Would say that the PS1/N64 is a really old retro console
>Would say the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox was their childhood console
>They'd say their first Pokemon game was Diamond and Pearl

In High School:
>They'd say music from the early 2000s is really cheesy old music
>They'd say music from the late 2000s brings back childhood nostalgia
>They wouldn't be able to remember an internet without Youtube and would have no idea where people used to get their videos from
>They'd be astonished at a colour phone with the really shitty camera quality and blurry ass video quality that could only do a few seconds
>They'd say the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube is a really old retro console
>They'd say the Xbox 360/Wii/PS3 were their childhood consoles
>They'd say their first Pokemon game was Black and White

College student reporting in.
If we're talking pop music, 80s probably had the cheesiest one. Everything after the 2000s is shit.
If we're talking all genres included, it doesn't really matter.
My first phone was black and white, current one doesn't even have a camera.
Concerning internet, we got a computer late, when my older sister got in high school, so I can't really express myself for that one.
First console was the Mega Drive but the one I have most memories with (and played the most) is the Gamecube
First pokemon was Ruby I think.

Overall, not so accurate.

Not that anon, but I don't know if you're a very representative sample. Phones without cameras are so rare that a phone lacking one would be considered a feature, and I doubt that most in the 18-22 range have ever had anything to do with a Sega Genesis (even the upper range was born during the Genesis' twilight months).

This school year is the last year in which someone born in the 90s will be in high school. Nobody in high school remembers the 90s anyways.

>In around 2 years, will mark the first time someone in high school can't remember the 2000s.

We'll be getting close to that point, but probably not quite there yet. The average 9th grader would be born in 2005, 10th graders in 2004, 11th graders in 2003, and 12th graders in 2002. The 2000s would be a question mark to the average freshman, but juniors and seniors would probably remember 2008 and 2009 somewhat.

But, yeah, by the 2019-2020 school year we'll definitely be very close to the point where high schoolers can't remember the 2000s at all. I'd say 2021-2022 will be the first school year where almost no high schooler has any solid 2000s memories.

The internet is so safe virus wise now. You couldn't even go to a flash game site without panicking that you got a virus. In fact you'd usually get a ton from them. I guess that's why Youtube got popular because of the lack of viruses and such. Porn was even worse, virus city. Now everything's so corporate so people don't advertise by shoving spyware towards you.

I'm guessing improvements to anti-virus stuff and more awareness about viruses these days probably helped against that too.

The viruses were much worse too. It's like viruses these days are just trojans and keyloggers and shit out to steal your password and credit card number and can easily be removed by any anti-virus software. Back in the 2000s it seemed more about chaos. How much damage a virus can do to your computer, rather than getting money out of it. Like entire city computer blackouts and stuff with computer virus epidemics.

Remember e-mails you used to get with warnings not to open an attachment file if you get an email from this person as it's a virus causing chaos right now? None of that happens anymore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qmV3mo4C_c

Shit like this, this guy shows off a bunch of old virus effects.

I'm curious if there will be some kind of big change in the way we use the internet.

I can't see us going back to how fun it was in 2000-2006 era when everything was just coming up. I'm interested in seeing how technology will change the world in other ways though. There are so many things that could be automated, mostly shopping experiences.
